Related question: I want to get my dad a .22 revolver as the one he had and loved was stolen years ago. How much trouble is it to transfer it to his name after I give it to him? TIA

Yeah, when you buy a gun they just run a background check to make sure you aren't a felon. It never gets "put into" your name.

Only the really liberal states require handgun registration.
