The company, which was among those who had received an Obamacare waiver in the past, is looking to limit workers to 28 hours per week. A full time employee that is required to have health insurance (lest the employer pay a fine) works 30 hours per week, as defined by the Obamacare law.

It's hard to feel bad after they elected obama again. I'm just gonna sit back and watch the tears come from liberals.

many companies follow Jack Welch's rule at GE...lay off the bottom 10% every year. These stories are great political fodder, and not doubt some are running on tight margins, but you can't really know the full story without fully understanding the internals of each company.

Sucks for the workers but I don't blame the employers. Just like when the government prevented banks from charging over-draft fees, they found other ways to make the same they always did. Big government makes it worse then before. I rather have no benefits than no job.

Premature elimination. The APA goes into effect in 2014.

Bristol-Meyers

Has a more to do with the fact their #1 selling product Plavix is going generic and layoffs have been steady since 2009.

Covidien

Significant ownership by venture capitalists and has been for sale and doing layoffs for the past few years.

Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Stryker, St. Jude

Hard to feel pity for medical device sales reps making in excess of $200K often without any education/medical credentials. The industry is among those to blame for the spiraling costs of healthcare.
