Not the Texans, not the Niners, not the Ravens. Somebody needs to say it. In case you need proof, here are some stats for you.

5 defensive touchdowns in the last 3 games, next closest team has 2 all season.

Most interceptions in the league with 13.

Tied for most sacks in the league with 18.

Most takeaways with 17.

3rd in the league in least points allowed (3 points behind the leader)

And.... Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings are the best cornerback duo in the league.

(Yes, I'm a Bears fan)

San Fran is #1. Chicago is definitely in that second tier though.

The Bears are ahead of San Francisco in almost every category and have played better teams. Their D is legit, but I give Chicago the edge

San Francisco is first in the most important stat, points allowed.

Takeaways and Tds aren't a good way to measure a D. 2009 Saints led the world in those stats and were not a great defense.

3 of your games were against a rookie qb making his 1st nfl start, the rams, and the jags. Tony romo was another.

Crown em!

Some on here would say Cutler is a top 5 QB in the league.

San Francisco is the best. It's very hard to do anything against them. Chicago is good too though.

The white safety #47 I think is an absolute killer, its only 5 games but he kind of reminds me of John Lynch/Bob Sander prototype Tampa 2 safety

The Bears have 3 more points. And Jay Cutler threw a pick 6 which could really take away 7 points. And if you consider the Bears have played better teams...

Chris Conte, yea he's really good. And it's only his second year. Between him and Major Wright who is in his third year (and already has 3 picks) the safety position should be locked down for years.

They've played the 2-2 Colts, 3-2 Rams, the 2-3 Packers(really 3-2), and the 2-2 Cowboys. The only bad team they've played is the Jaguars, and they beat them by 38 points

Prototype Tampa 2 safeties, take great angles, sure tacklers in the running game and big hitters in the passing game.

And who won the superbowl that year? That's ridiculous takeaways are probably the most important stat for any team.

And I'm pretty sure Gabbert and Bradford aren't rookies... Romo is a good QB

Jags are 32nd in total offense

Rams are 29th

Packers are 21st

Dallas 16th

Colts 10th

Pretty sure that td Cutler threw doesn't go against the d.

You sure about that schedule part? SF has played gb, det, minn and buff. All pretty solid offenses. Some better than solid. Chi has played the Colts and Packers, and one of those was a rookie qbs first game ever. I guess you can say the cowboys offense is OK.

The defense was built to gamble and force turnovers because even if they gave up the big play, they knew they would go right back and score. The Saints won the Super Bowl mostly because of their prolific offense (and cheating - coming from a Vikings fan), not solely because they lead the league in turnovers and defensive TD's.

Defensive TD's are often quite random in nature. In 2009, Darren Sharper seemed to always go for a pick six. The next year, I believe the Saints struggled to keep up the turnovers. A lot of the random luck that helped in 2009 did not go their way in 2010.
