| re: Jindal shutting down LSU hospital system in order to privatize it huh? wiki is one of the few good at politics. just because he doesn't sugar coat shite and bow down to big government doesnt mean he sucks at politics. actually far from it. only good government is no government, but government is a necessary evil and we should keep it as small as possible. this thread is funny though. most people on TD say they are conservative and want much smaller government. | Let me be clear I hate government because it is abused. always has, always will. thats why the only good government is no government. Its the only way to ensure that there will be no government tyranny. Government is need though to protect private property rights. state with 4 million people doesnt need that many training hospitals. I realize that the health care industry is going to double, you can train the doctors in one facility in Nola. And why does it have to be paid for by the state? Where would you like jindal to cut? he can only cut higher ed and health care. He tried closing schools and people went ape shite over SUNO. what do you want him to do? how is training doctors a fundamental responsibility of a state government? why cant doctors learn in a private setting? as far as it hurting our economy, maybe, but taxing the shite out of industries to make ends meet will hurt it a lot more. We are fortunate enough to have a state institution that is actually better than Tulane and cheaper. The Governor can only make cuts out of the general funding, and everything else requires constitutional amendment to impose cuts. | name those programs please? i dont think this is the best idea ever but its not like he has a ton of wiggle room here. like i said contact a legislature to have a constitutional convention and get this fixed. i dont like anything that hurts LSU, but there isnt much bobby can do. there are no exceptions to the good government rule. only those that havent turned completely horrible yet. as far as who else is going to pay for it, if there is demand and a profit can be made, a private practice will step up and get it done. if its not profitable then it doesnt need to be open. Sorry tulane is expensive, not my problem. Sorry its an inferior product, again not my fault. So why should my money pay for it? again please name the programs. Reply • Back to Top |

| As you live more life there are a lot more shades of grey and less black & white. To an extent the state has been in a jam because over a period of time the electorate has protected most areas of the budget via constitutional amendments due to a fundamental mistrust of its politicians. That said, I have not seen Bobby Jindal do a while lot of anything for his state. He's run his mouth. He has given fat, juicy contracts to his friends, family, and contributors. He's donee a lot of shite to posture for a higher office. Ethics are important as long as they don't apply to him. He seems intent on wrecking higher ed - particularly at LSU. He's convinced that few in this state have any sense and thus brings all his "experts" in from out of state. When he doesn't get his way or someone disagrees with him, he lashes out like a two year old. All that said, he has sold the state out. Even a number of Republicans are now beginning to see his true colors. Make no mistake. What the "little bastard" ("LB")is doing is wrecking this state and it is going to take a long time to recover from it. Next time, we need to elect someone with more maturity. Reply • Back to Top |
