re: LHSAA Week 6 Thread - Updated with Thursday Night scoresquote: I wasn't there, but I can give you his stats... 21 carries for 162 yards and 2 TD, 4 rec. for 90 yards, hurt his leg in the third qtr and missed a series or two but did return Reply Back to Top |
| If Crutch disciplines his players, St. Aug will be scary in the future. Seems like that seems to be the only thing lacking with the Purple Knights lately, because the talent is definitely there. We used to scrimmage St. Aug every year the week before the jamboree, and my God, they looked like a college team. But, we were always able to handedly beat them (we would give up a big play or two, just because we didn't have the speed to match, but overall, we were able to win the game in the trenches). If we are going to ever get back to the dome, we will need an experienced/dedicated group of staff, kids, parents, etc... How many times can we claim having the best talent if none of them are not groomed into a system long enough... Reply Back to Top |
| Like I said, it takes a year or two to wash your hands of an old regime. Once Crutch gets a group of kids that have never known the ways of the Johnson era, St. Aug should be scary good. Reply Back to Top |
Posted by STAUG95 on 10/7 at 12:10 pm to brewhan davey David Johnson was a good coach and in 3yrs instilled/revamped the program that the 2 prior coaches couldn't do: Add more district titles and win in the playoffs... He just fell victim to all of the extra crap that comes along with being employed at St Aug and just couldn't handle the pressure... You have to deal with politics, a bunch of wannabee chiefs, control freaks, etc.. on 2600 APT...Reply Back to Top |
quote: Acadiana is a decent team this year. Not anywhere near where they were in 2010, but they are still capable of beating a lot of teams. A LOT of youth on this team. They have something like 6-8 sophomores who play regularly, most of them starting. The QB is pretty talented, a Jr who is perfect at running the veer option and is capable of going the distance anytime he has the ball (He passed for 367 yds in the loss to New Iberia, that never happens). A sophomore TE who will be a major college recruit. Really the sophomore class at Acadiana is as talented as they come. This is not going to be their year though. They did do a good job against some really good teams but their youth shows a lot at times and they seem turnover prone on offense especially inside the redzone. They are capable of playing against anyone but ultimately their youth will keep them from winning the big games. The next 2 years they will have an incredibly good team.
