| RB numbers for 2014 class Posted by GeauxLSU4 It doesn't look like LSU will be taking any RB's in the '13 class after only taking one (Jeremy Hill) in the '12 class. How many do they need to take next year for depth purposes in the future? I say at least 2 but likely 3.This post was edited on 7/31 at 10:14 pm Reply Back to Top |
| If we get LF prob just 2 Reply Back to Top |
| You may want to expand your thread title so this doesn't get anchored. I expect we'll take at least two, possibly three guys. Obviously Leonard Fournette is the top target, as he should be. The Paleilei kid at EA is also getting a look, and style wise would be a good compliment to Fournette. There are several other good RBs in Louisiana in the '14 class, but we'll probably look OOS as well. There is a RB in Oklahoma with LA roots, but it remains to be seen if we'll pursue him. quote: As far as Paleilei is concerned, I'm not so sure he's a fit for our offense. How many times have we talked about a smaller "change of pace" back under Miles and who besides Trindon Holliday was ever really utilized? Even Holliday was used very sparingly and in trickeration at times. Les wants his RBs to be big, well over 200 pounds. Don't know if I see Paleilei in that aspect. Not knocking Paleilei in any way, just thinking he's not a fit for us. Guys like Jakari Gore just don't fit in Les' offense. Reply Back to Top |
| what about the kid from boutte's school? Reply Back to Top |
| Just get Fournette and they can focus on who his backups will be after that Reply Back to Top |
| I see what your saying, but Ford and Magee could be considered those types of backs. Ford was our leading rusher, and Magee beat out Gore for carries. I don't think it's as much of being a big bruiser as it is finishing runs with power, which every one of our backs do. If Paleilei does that, he'll get a serious look. Reply Back to Top |
quote: He may not actually be a '14 recruit. He's going into his JR year, but is older. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Both Ford and Magee are over 210 pounds. I don't know if Paleilei will get near that big. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Not being 210 lbs does not preclude him from running hard and finishing his runs hard. Reply Back to Top |
quote: It's a durability thing I think with Les. Magee is actually quite huge, he's not as heavy as the taller guys but you have to keep in mind he's only 5'9. 5'9 210 makes for a load. Just in general have never seen a "small" guy make it under Les outside of of Holliday, who once again was pretty unique. Reply Back to Top |
| I thought for the 14 class LSU would sign 2-3 RB's Reply Back to Top |
| LSU has offered four backs for 2014 already. Have also offered Brossette , Jordan Scarlett and Jacques Patrick for 2015. This post was edited on 7/31 at 11:14 pm Reply Back to Top |
| it would be sweet to get Fournette and the Scorbrough(Sp?) guy from Alabama or either one really they are both really good Reply Back to Top |
quote: Not saying it's not possible, but I doubt they'd both go to the same place as RB's. LSU hasn't even "officially" given Scarbrough an offer. Some say He'll play WR or defense. Project seems to be on the right track in thinking LSU will go after some smaller more shifty guys than we are used to. Of the 2014 guys the Clemson commit, Davon Cook (5'11" 190) has supposedly run a 4.38 forty. The Georgia commit LSU offered, Stanley Williams is 5'8" and under 190 lb. One of the 2015 guys, Jordan Scarlett claims he ran a 4.29 once and a 4.37 at Miami's camp. Sounds like Les wants some faster guys to go with the bruisers. Reply Back to Top |
| The thing about Palelei's film is how well he catches the ball. Even when covered tightly, he comes up with the catch. All the things LSU fans hoped for with Holiday and Shepard, might actually come true with this kid. Seriously, on film he looks like the ideal wingback/slot-receiver. As for pure tailback, I know LSU fans go gaga over instate talent - and Fournette is actually worthy of the hype. But I think Thomas has just as much potential at the college level. If LSU can get either one of them, it would be a home run pickup. Reply Back to Top |
| we should redshirt Magee this year Reply Back to Top |
