| re: High-capacity magazines - will they be banned? I believe some of the more liberal gun states like California can't have anything over 10 rounds, but I could be wrong on that. Reply Back to Top |
quote:You are correct. My question is if this is the agreed upon limit? And. . .does this apply to police? Reply Back to Top |
quote: In case that wasn't a rhetorical question, it was 10 under the previous AWB. Reply Back to Top |
quote:Now comes the question. Is someone with a gun that holds 11 bullets less likely to murder somebody, than someone with 10 bullets? Reply Back to Top |
quote: Another question. What prevents these would be killers from buying more than one magazine and just changing mags when empty? An effective mag change can occur in a few seconds if practiced. This post was edited on 7/24 at 5:39 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: Why is it that every time it gets brought up that Romney sounds and acts just like some leftest icon (Clinton in this case), people who claim to be opposed to expansive government do cartwheels trying to explain it away. Banning weapons does not make it eaiser to get them. He acted, and sounded just like Pelosi, Fienstien, Clinton, Sarah Brady, Shawkowski, etc. LINK Governor Mitt Romney has signed into law a permanent assault weapons ban that he says will make it harder for criminals to get their hands on these guns. "Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts," Romney said, at a bill signing ceremony on July 1 with legislators, sportsmen's groups and gun safety advocates. "These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people." Like the federal assault weapons ban, the state ban, put in place in 1998, was scheduled to expire in September. The new law ensures these deadly weapons, including AK-47s, UZIs and Mac-10 rifles, are permanently prohibited in Massachusetts no matter what happens on the federal level. "We are pleased to mark an important victory in the fight against crime," said Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey. "The most important job of state government is ensuring public safety. Governor Romney and I are determined to do whatever it takes to stop the flood of dangerous weapons into our cities and towns and to make Massachusetts safer for law-abiding citizens." I wonder what the men who died on Lexington Green in April 1775 trying to stop the government from confiscating their store of weapons, including artillery at Concord, would have to say about this. I wonder if they would think it ok since the government was so kindly giving them a 90 day grace period to get their gun registration paper work in order. People died to give us a free country, and it has been inherited by a bunch of gutless cowards who care for nothing but an illusion of safety, and licking the boots of their masters. quote: Hmmm but if a person is hunting you wouldn't they then be used for self defense... Better not tell this to our soldiers that depend on them everyday for self defense. The way i see it is that if everyone has them then the playing field is level. Ban them from the average citizen and you give the criminal element the upper hand. Reply Back to Top |
| and I am sure Romney is calling semi-auto rifles "assault rifles" which is completely incorrect terminology. How many people actually have a full-auto or burst fire firearm????? Reply Back to Top |
quote: Legally... only those with serious $$$ to spend on their hobbies. I think i read somewhere that there are around 300,000 legally owned select fire weapons in circulation. Reply Back to Top |

quote: many as you said do not have the thousands of dollars it takes to buy one from a class 3 dealer, then pay the 200 dollar NFA tax, get their form 4 papers approved by the CLEO or just transfer it under a LLC or corporation. If i ever get one it will go under my S-corp so I do not have to deal with the sheriff signing my form 4 papers. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
