Of Monsters and Men Just bought their album this weekend after giving it a dry run on Spotify. Absolutely love it. Anyone else heard them? What were your thoughts? I think the Arcade Fire may have created a genre... I just on't know what it'll be called. Reply Back to Top

One of the best albums of the year. Absolutely love it also. Reply Back to Top
Yeah, I just had Spotify playing in the background and "Little Talks" come on and suddenly I was like, Who the hell are these guys? And why don't I own all of their albums?" Reply Back to Top
They only have 1 album and an EP. All the songs on the EP are also on the album. And I agree that this is one of the best albums of the year Reply Back to Top

You should check out Monsters of Folk This post was edited on 7/23 at 1:48 pm Reply Back to Top
Definitely a big fan. Check out The Lumineers if you want more of the same "stomp-folk" style music. Reply Back to Top
freakin love the lumineers... more than of monsters and men. Reply Back to Top
I think I might have to agree with you there. The story about how they (Lumineers) got together is pretty cool too. Reply Back to Top

quote: I prefer Of Monsters and Men. You know there's nothing wrong with being influenced by a group and having a similar sound? Of Monsters and Men, The Lumineers, Edward Sharpe, Mumford, etc. all have similar sounds. If you go to any of them on pandora I guarantee the other groups named will be played at some point. They are all good bands too. Reply Back to Top |

My friend dropboxxed them to me with a bunch of other stuff, including Lumineers (whom I love), and I haven't gotten around to them yet. I've been too busy with other stuff. I was telling myself yesterday that I would give Monsters and Men a listen once someone on here mentioned them. Lo and behold I'm a few songs in. They definitely remind me of Ed Sharpe. Have a bit of a Lumineers sound to them. And I can see the Arcade Fire reference, too. I dig what I'm hearing. Not my favorite, but I can get behind this. Reply Back to Top
quote: Is the rest of the album worth a purchase? I like the EP a lot (had it a while), but for some reason haven't felt compelled to get the album. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
