| Louisiana residential historic renovation tax credit program Posted by gorillaballin Does anyone have any experience with this? I recently bought a Victorian double in uptown Nola (magazine st hist dist) and have done a top to bottom renovation on it. Didn't find out that I was eligible until the project was like 90% finished though. I'm worried about the govt meddling with certain aspects of the property like the HDLC does (I'm not in an HDLC district). Any knowledge or advice on if this is worth my time is greatly appreciated. It's been a great investment btw, the tenant side is rented and pays 91% of my note while I live in the other side. | I have no experience with this personally, but there are programs available. Generally you are supposed to apply before building. There is a state tax credit and property tax abatement program. Look at crt.state.la.us Reply • Back to Top |
| I've done some research on it but didn't do so until near the end of my renovation. I just didn't know I was eligible. Seems like it might be worth doing to save a little bit but I'm weary of letting gov't officials come into my property and potentially make me change things that are deemed to be not original (like the HDLC does to people regularly).
