Posted by dreaux Never heard of this guy before. He is a little to religious for me but man, I really like this guy. He is sharp as a tack. I think I might seriously support this guy through his career. He obviously has big ambitions and is young. What does the poli board think? Reply Back to Top |

quote: He's far more popular in the media and on the political front than just any typical senator. And I liked him initially but I fear he's just another neo-con with a good personality and charisma that won't be much different than what we've been having all along. Better than Obama, not that that is saying much. Reply Back to Top |
| He caught a lot of flack for having the balls to say he would do the same as the illegal immigrants if he were in their shoes. So would anyone else who's honest enough to admit it. If he's going anywhere higher in politics, he'll have to learn to weasel himself around questions like that. Unfortunately. Reply Back to Top |
quote: That's an absolute non-issue in people's opinions on Rubio. Didn't that just come out very recently? I am sure there are hundreds of millions of people all over the world who would be willing to sneak into America illegally if they thought they could. The fact is, the government has a right and duty to regulate immigration and if you come in illegally you shouldn't bitch when you get caught and thrown out. Lots of people you are leapfrogging who want to be here just as much as you and are using the legal channels to do so. That statement hasn't hurt him with supporters. Now if he believed those people shouldn't be turned away at the border or should be granted amnesty, then you will see it hurt him with supporters. So I reject your notion that he has to "learn to weasel himself around questions like that" as unfounded. Reply Back to Top |
quote: My perspective as well. I appreciate the senitment shared by Rubio but he's lauding to his base when in fact you can spin it all you want, illegal immigrants should not be in this country. And I would add that our government and businesses hiring illegals are at least as culpable due lax enforcement of immigration laws. Reply Back to Top |

| Rubio is a nice guy, but not a polished politician. When the establishment gets their hands on him, he will be saying and doing all kinds of things he doesn't believe in. Reply Back to Top |

| Future President. And a good thing. Reply Back to Top |
| I I get the feeling that he is being groomed by the GOP. Reply Back to Top |
| Heck d...I think it would be more like Rubio is grooming the GOP. It's the GOP that went along to get along, and got us into this mess. All the while using their 'insider trading' access...to take it to the bank. Rubio is Tea Party. Through and through. Another up and comer is Col. Allen West. Dude is the modern day Patton...with words. I listened to him on C-Span the other morning...they couldn't touch the man. Even when challenged on calling out member of Congress as being "Communists". Both of these men will play a big role in our future. Thank the Good Lord. And both are religious; which is a good thing. At least in their conscience they believe they must answer to the 'judgment'...and always speak the truth. Instead of covering up...like the current *transparent* Reply Back to Top |
| Rubio is not the darling of the Tea Party unless the Tea Party has given up on adherence to the Constitution. Reply Back to Top |
quote: It is more of a matter of WHAT IDEOLOGY is at the top, and where they take us in spirit, while we work through this perilous time. Rubio will be a great asset to the *out of touch* Romney. Faith matters, in enlisting the tolerance of the populous. If they smell a rat - like Obama - out come the guns. Reply Back to Top |
| Everything you perceive happening should be subject to and determined by the Constitution. Rubio is an asset to the country, but not as a President and/or VP - and this applies also to Jindal, or to anyone else who isn't in compliance with Article 2 Section 1. Our liberties will not survive if we continue this recent cavalier, cafeteria-style approach to what is the foundational document of this Republic. For almost 4 years now we have seen an assault on the Constitution that is unprecedented. Personally can’t accept the attitude that it is ok to continue this course as long as it is with our guy/party, but will be acceptable because it might only be to a lesser degree. No violation of the document should be taken as anything less than a major breach. The Constitution in concert with our military are the two major entities that ensure the liberty we have, but which now appears to have become tenuous at best. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
