| The Dark Knight Rises already breaking records Posted by RollTide1987 Over 13,000 IMAX tickets have been sold for showings of The Dark Knight Rises since tickets went on sale at midnight. That's an IMAX world record. The traffic was so heavy that IMAX websites crashed and were down for over a half an hour in places like Britain and Australia. | I still doubt that it beats the Avengers. This post was edited on 6/11 at 10:27 am Reply Back to Top |
| It won't. I love Batman as much as anybody, but even I am only lukewarm about it. I feel like it will be a bit of a letdown. Reply Back to Top |
| It's amazing to me that the IMAX at the McWane Center Birmingham stopped showing major movies. Now it is exclusively the IMAX science/educational stuff. They are missing out on tons of money. I guess I'll have to watch it on one of the Mini-IMAX screens at the Rave. Reply Back to Top |
| First movie I have ever seen that has showings starting at 6:30 am. Reply Back to Top |

quote: I am as well. I'd venture to say that I'm the biggest Batman fan on these boards, but even I'm apprehensive about this. Everyone should be considering the success of the general trilogy and how it tends to faceplant in the final installment. Also especially when he's not going with the original plan, it makes me apprehensive. Granted I think Bane is a great choice to distance themselves from the Joker, but I'm still heavily apprehensive about everything. I've got my crow prepared to eat, but I still can't say I'm completely pumped about this film. Hell I'd say I'm more pumped about "Brave" than "The Dark Knight Rises". | I think if you're a fan of the last two and are eagerly awaiting The Dark Knight Rises like am, you'll be better served by instituting a self-imposed blackout of most stories or marketing about the movie from here on out. It will temper your expectations and you won't try to guess the story after seeing clips from a trailer. Reply Back to Top |
| so i take it you guys aren't getting tickets? Reply Back to Top |
| Nope. Will probably buy them a week out. I just don't want to spoil the movie for myself. Reply Back to Top |
quote: You really have got to stop it with this talking point. There was no "original plan," just message board innuendo that someone picked up and ran with. Reply Back to Top |

quote: Bull shite. Nolan before Heath's death said Burton's biggest mistake with his series was killing off the Joker since he could be used effectively again. It was no secret that the Joker would survive "The Dark Knight", but he quickly shut up about that as soon as Heath died. He said since then that he didn't really know who Bane was until after The Dark Knight premiered and started seeking a different antagonist who was not the Riddler (and if he were the antagonist, I would have no faith with this film). He also had absolutely no intention of having Catwoman in this film until later in the screenwriting process when his brother convinced him to put her in there. I have every reason to be apprehensive that he may have made the wrong decision by not going with the original plan and the fact that its the last chapter of the trilogy. Granted I think that some of the foundation of the original plan is there (like total civil war in Gotham), but I'm still apprehensive to it working. I'm more than happy to eat crow if and when it happens, but you can bet your arse I'll be talking shite here if it turns out to be subpar. Reply Back to Top |
