First LSU football game?
Posted by drunkenpunkin on 6/2 at 8:49 pm
My son is a HUGE Tiger fan, but because of his medical condition, he hasn't been able to go to a game yet. His birthday is next month. Can I buy tickets this early? Does anyone know how the wheelchair access is? Are the games relatively friendly for those with disabilities? I would love to give him a big surprise for his bday. Any advice is appreciated. TIA.

1987, v Ohio state, 13 13 tie. South end zone. Just me, my dad, and my older brother. I will never forget it.
As for al the rest, no clue. Just had to reminisce.

I just typed a response and it is gone. I got an oops! grrrr

we take our son often (he is 14 but no wheelchair) to alex box. There are many wheelchair seats. He prefers the baseball games to the football because it is not about the game. it is about mike the tiger sightings, the music, the games and stuff on the scoreboard. It is easier to see the field and what is going on at baseball as well. we have been going for years and everyone has always been very nice and we have sat in many different places in alex box. It is also much easier to get out of the stadium if need be. the smaller crowd also makes it more manageable to me.

You cancheck stubhub although if you post on TD ticket section I'm sure you can find someone who has tickets if they have any although actual tickets won't be available until August sometime. Some locations are easy access and get some tickets in the lower section . You should be fine. A day game would be easier

I wish I could get away with that. He is a die hard football fan, though. He's been asking for a few years to go to a game, and I have been putting it off because I wasn't sure how he'd handle it. But, I think at this point, the excitement would be way more than the issues that might arise. Provided I get everything lined up as perfectly as possible.

It would definitely have to be in the lower section because i don't think he'd do well in the upper deck. I haven't been to a game where I have really paid attention to accessibility, though. I'm not sure how it would work to get to seats with his wheelchair.

Our son miraculously does not have sensory overload issues at LSU games or Disney World.

The excitement is wonderful.

eta: there are ramps the whole way in at alex box so I am sure it is the same in tiger stadium. it is special wheelchair seats. Contact LSU, I am sure someone can help you.

eta2: at alex box they will announce birthdays in the crowd also. Don't know if football is the same.

Madam, your son has autism, too? I don't see Disney ever being possible for us.

I think there is a wheel chair platform on the west side of the north endzone.

yes and he loves disney world but we had to leave a Don's Seafood birthday party for my dad recently because he was overloaded. Other theme parks he does not do well though. It is his love for the disney characters. But we also have to arrange everything perfectly. he is also high functioning and not prone to fits as long as the food/clothing/handheld video games etc is correct.

Try a different. Write a letter (yes the kind with a stamp) to Les Miles asking for advice on how to get the special seats your son needs.

Are they really special seats? I just want to be able to buy regular tickets. He doesn't have to stay in his wheelchair throughout the game. He just won't be able to walk through campus, into the stadium, and to the seats without it. But, I just want it to be as regular an experience as possible.

I don't think you can get tickets yet. They do have a section for wheelchairs over by where the band used to be.

I've seen lots of wheel chairs at the end of the first ramp in the sw corner. Looks very roomy and a good spot. Don't know how you get them. The howitzer is very loud, though.

Is there a place to just park the chair and walk to the seats? I don't think he'd want to be in the chair the whole game. He's not big on being "different" at all. I guess I'll have to make some calls.
