Infused liquors- anyone done it? Posted by Kingwood Tiger Got a handfull of jalapenos I've been growing and was considering putting them in some tequila or vodka to infuse them. Any of you done this, if so any tips? Reply Back to Top
The only thing I have done like this was pineapple in vodka. I cant imagine it bing much different though. Just cut up the jalapenos and put them into the liquor and let them soak. I let the pineapples sit in the vodka for two weeks but I think that would be way too long if you were using jalapenos. Reply Back to Top
LOL, I used to make Skittle Vodka for parties. Reply Back to Top |
I have not done jalapenos, but I did cranberry orange vodka at Christmas. It turned out very well, and was really easy. I had to heat the cranberries and orange zest in some of the vodka until the cranberries popped. Then poured into the bottle, topped the bottle off with vodka, and let it steep a couple of days. Strained it through a coffee filter, placed a couple of fresh orange peels and cranberries in the bottle for decoration and refilled with the strained vodka. I would not think you would need to heat yours -- I would slice the jalapenos and steep in the vodka at least 24 hours, then strain and bottle. Reply Back to Top
I have been doing this with Jalapenos in Vodka for mixing Bloody Mary's for awhile now. Just slice them into strips that will fit down the neck of the bottle. I usually quarter them and they fit fine. You can see a pic of the bottle as well as my Bloody Mary recipe here near the bottom of this page: http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/display.aspx?p=33597392&pg=2 Reply Back to Top

I haven't done it in a while but I went to eat at one of Daniel Boulud's places and they had a drink called the Perfect Date. It had date infused Makers Mark and it was incredible. I normally would not want anything done to my Makers but this was too good. Reply Back to Top
i was told by a bartender at Boucherie (they make their own infused vodka) that Russian Standard is the best base vodka to use. Also, jalapeno infused vodka in a bloody mary is the tits! Reply Back to Top
I tried lemons last month and it came out like crap. Reply Back to Top
Where'd you get those bottles? They are pretty sweet! Reply Back to Top
I put honeycomb in Jim Beam once. I got the recipie from a bartender at Juban's. Turned out GOOD. The Missus has put candy corn and caramels in cheap vodka a few times for Halloween. That turned out nice too. (Although I think with the caramels, there was some old gelatin left over). She's also soaked gummi bears in vodka and fruit punch. They really plump up. Reply Back to Top

Jeep dropping the knowledge. Another tip if doing fruit. Get large strainer and press fruit back through strainer. Get the most alcohol and fruit flavor out of that infusion. Reply Back to Top
Did some satsuma vodka last fall that came out good but definitely press the fruit. I added some simple syrup and bottled. Loved sipping it straight over ice with a slice of fresh satsuma in bottom of glass. Reply Back to Top
Yep. Made cherry bounce. One of the oldest drinks in the US. Cherry infused whiskey. Let it sit six months. Was amazing. Hardest part was finding the cherries. Tiny little fricking cherries. Reply Back to Top
