I value FREEDOM

I believe who you love is your business and the govt shouldn't be "licensing" shite in that arena. Hence, gays could get married like anyone else.

I believe that you should have the freedom to to stupid shite to yourself. Hence, if you want to do drugs, have at it!

I believe that you should be free to do with YOUR property what you wish. Hence, if you only want to rent to women, rent to women. If you only want to rent to blacks. Rent to blacks. And so on.

I believe that you should be free to be financially stupid. Hence, I don't think the govt should be saving you from your inability to note that you'll get old like everyone else.

I could go on but frankly, I'd challenge you to come up with ONE issue where Freedom is not my paramount value above ALL other values. About the best you can do is address my view on abortion which I view as much about freedom as I view any other assault on another person.

But, even if I give you that one, you wont come up with another.

America would be a MUCH better place if more Americans viewed Freedom and Liberty as greater values than Equality and Fairness.

Libertarian is just today's label.

I'm a freedom lover. PERIOD.

Americans pay lip service to freedom. They don't actually believe in it. If you hold something as a REAL value, you value it for people other than yourself. I mean frick. Hitler probably valued freedom for himself and his Nazi buddies. THAT isn't valuing freedom.

Americans value their neighbor's freedom about as much as I valued people taking a shite in my mouth.

I think the problem we run into, is that "better place" is not something everyone agrees on.

But... I too believe freer is better.

We don't have to argue which healthcare system will provide better service.
We don't have to argue if gun control will make us safer or not.
We don't have to argue if trickle down economics works, or if tax cuts increase revenues.

All we have to argue... is that freer is preferred.

Well stated.

The problem with government solutions is there will never be one that makes everyone better off and nobody worse off.

Some people benefit from Ogumpcare, but others suffer.

Gun control might save some individuals, but others will die because they can't defend themselves (in this case, it's harder to identify the specific winners and losers but the point stands).

At least with freedom, people get to decide for themselves.

I suspect SUFFER is a word better applied to pre-HC bill conditions.

Preposterous assumption.

I think the actual problem is that many people don't realize that vesting govt with power to supposedly make their lives better at someone else's expense actually harms THEM too and in the end, leaves them no better off either.

I don't think that there is as much disagreement over what "better" is among people. I think individually, people strongly recognize the value of freedom and desire it for THEMSELVES. They just fail to understand the damage they do to their own freedom by infringing upon the freedom of others via govt power.
