I think that would be totally reasonable (ETA: your view is reasonable... not the backlash ).

Didn't the reporter finally admit he was the one who brought up Leviticus in the article? Pacquiao never even mentioned it at all.

He's going to lose his endorsement contract with Nike because of this. I hope the millions he's going to lose from this is no big deal to him.

I will put this here as well. Manny did not say that. Writer deceived his audience.

Also, a reason why the writer chose to write the article the way he did and deceive his audience:

quote:

Examiners are paid based on a black box system considering page views and other metrics, or the "Gawker-model", made famous by the blog Gawker.com. During 2009, many of the writers were receiving $0.01 per page view. Examiner.com later offered a variety of pay scale options to their writers.[18] Examiner.com now bases compensation on variables such as subscriptions, page view traffic and session length.[19]

Which was stupid. Leviticus also forbids tattoos. Pacquiao conveniently ignored that part.

Homosexually is condemned everywhere it is mentioned in the Bible. It's not an obscure old testament law that only applied to the Jews in 1500 BC.

I haven't found any bible passages with an expiration date on them. You would think the 'unerring word of God' wouldn't forget something that obvious, would you?

Over what? Being against gay marriage or you thinking he said he wants gays dead?

Regardless. Nike would be spineless if they pulled his contract. Militant gays are an extremist group who really are irrelevant except when extremist straight libs and the media back their cause making it appear they are relevant.

I am sure you will join me in my disgust with Nike if this happens? Or, do you like it when people that do things that you disagree with suffer? I would think you would disagree with them, but want them to suffer no harm because of their unpopular belief?

I will say it again: we are just 3-4 years away from intimidation and banning of any view other than "being gay is awesome!" Anyone who says that they believe that homosexuality is a sin will be branded a "hate-filled bigot" and it will be considered hate-speech. You will not be able to hold a job, run for political office, or be a public figure and hold that view.

Hyperbole alert !!

It has already happened with the use of one word. Do you really think it is too much of a stretch to think that PC could bring us to this place?

There is no sensationalism here. Enough connections have been made between gay rights and the Civil Rights movement that what we now see in regard to racism in the public sphere will soon apply to those who disagree with homosexuality.

Is it really the word that they are after? "marriage"

If religions coin the phrase, traditional marriage to distinguish between gay and normal marriages, I would assume there would be an uproar to call their's a traditional marriage.

A civil union gives all the rights of a marriage, but that is not enough. They want the word, something to make them think that we think it is normal. It is not.

I do not care what people do in their personal lives, none of my concern. This does not change my view on the matter. When a man cheats on his wife, none of my concern, but I think it is wrong.
