| re: Theoretically speaking, If Drew held out and Chase lights it up... Hold on: your talking about Chase starting in regular season games and lighting it up? I thought you were just talking about OTA's or camp. It's highly unlikely either side would let it get to that point, and if it did, we would have some serious problems. Reply Back to Top |
quote: yep, THEORETICALLY speaking... quote: of course quote: no shit, but how would chase's play affect that situation if it were to get to that. Reply Back to Top |

| Well if it got to that point, I would think that the relationship between Drew and the club had all but deteriorated, to the point where they're leaning towards parting ways. I just don't see another scenario that would lead to Drew not taking the snaps opening day. Why were you thinking about this in the first place? Reply Back to Top |
| Theoretically speaking, if we won the Superbowl with Vitt...... Reply Back to Top |
| You mean jackassically speaking right? Reply Back to Top |
quote: Just kind of goes back to negotiations now... how much Drew's success is system oriented and so forth. Yes we're trying to make him richest man in NFL and all but at what point are we like "settle down drew, you have done all of your accomplishments under the direction of payton and he's made you the wizard that you are".... So if chase steps in, offense still lighting up... does drew think... okay i'm losing leverage.... secret is out that the system produces great qb play and i better take my 19 plus million now. | If, theoretically, we would've signed peyton manning and brees, then fielded a roster with no defense on the field and just an offense, would we still win this years super bowl with a 2qb system and no defensive player on the roster while running a spread option attack? Just theoretically speaking of course. Reply Back to Top |

| This hypothetical wouldn't be the equivalent situation of a Steve Young making a Montana less valuable or expendable. More like a Matt Cassell (N.E.) or Matt Flynn (G.B) situation where they had some really good moments in a system but they aren't viewed as vaulable as their on-the-road-to-the-HOF-QB. Chase is a free agent after this season, and would be in a new uniform next fall if he does "light it up" this season. Reply Back to Top |
