| Bullying PSA commercial changes saying... Posted by CAJUNLXA685 I saw a PSA type commercial on bullying yesterday and the end had: "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words are what really hurt me." Sad that kids these days are too weak mentally and emotionally to be told the reality of the world - not everyone likes you and not everyone gets along. As a disclaimer, I do not encourage or promote bullyinig in anyway. I just think it is one of those things that is part of life and you deal with it. Reply Back to Top |
| I was bullied pretty soundly back in first grade (1974) until I picked up a brick on the playground and whacked the bully in the side of the head. Bullying pretty much ceased on that day Reply Back to Top |
quote: How does an anti-bullying campaign preclude a parent from telling a kid the reality of the world? These are not mutually exclusive. I was of the impression that these ads were aimed at promoting one kid standing up for another weaker kid. Reply Back to Top |
| A weak arse generation is being raised nowadays. I know some kids can push things to far, but a lot of it is just a part of growing up. Reply Back to Top |
| Kids are pussies these days, and it's their parents' fault. Reply Back to Top |

quote: It's kinda fricked up that they're saying this instead of the way the quote should be read and used to be taught. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I agree. I wasn't ever physically bullied (getting beaten up, etc.), but I was certainly teased at certain times growing up. The original saying is very important in this case. You have to learn that some people are just fricking a-holes and ignore the dumb shite they say. It probably made me a stronger person in the long run. These days, a kid gets teased and they put them on suicide watch. I don't know if the kids have changed that much, but I assume it's the parents and the school's fault...... Reply Back to Top |
| They butchered that saying Reply Back to Top |
| Let a kid get a broken bone then get bullied with words. I'm sure they'll agree broken bones hurt a lot worse. This post was edited on 5/15 at 12:41 pm Reply Back to Top |

| I have to admit... My two and a half year old daughter told me that another little girl had hit her at her school the other day (not really sure if I believed it or not, they like to make things up at this age). I asked if she told her teacher. She said yes. I asked if her teacher talked to the little girl. She said yes. I then told her that if the girl hit her again, she should hit her back right here (while pointing to my nose). Crossing my fingers that she does not let that slip at school ever. Reply Back to Top |
quote: But that's how to raise your kid to deal with bullies. Someone hits you, you defend yourself. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Make no mistake about it... These PSAs/Celebrity Involvements have nothing to do with bullying in the sense that you or I think about it... I.e. big kid picking on little kid. This is all about anti-gay discrimination to them. The "normal" kid picking on the effiminate/soon to be gay kid. Reply Back to Top |
quote: They're basically raising their kids without teaching them how to deal with adversity. As if life is just filled with people patting you on the back every day. It's sad Reply Back to Top |
| It's the parents fault. Everyone gets bullied by someone.... It's just life. ETA: the everyone gets a trophy generation. This post was edited on 5/15 at 1:16 pm Reply Back to Top |
