| buying 20 pounds of catfish in BR Posted by swampdawg We are having a fish fry for the lady's graduation on Friday. Where in BR is a good, reasonable place to buy around 20 pounds of catfish? It doesn't need to be perfect fillets or anything. Thanks! Reply Back to Top |
| Tony's. Reply Back to Top |
| Does it have to be fresh or can it be frozen? Reply Back to Top |

| You should look into buying Basa it's a chinese catfish that 90 percent of the restaraunts are serving now. It's half the price and just as good. Reply Back to Top |
| You could check with Randy Montalbano seafood. Not sure how their prices compare to Tony's though. Their website list mostly prepared foods, but they are also a seafood market. LINK Reply Back to Top |
quote: NO it is not, I hate it and will gladly pay full price for domestic catfish Reply Back to Top |
quote: This is just as bad as chinese crawfish. Places that sale this shite should have to disclose it on the menu. Reply Back to Top |

| Hi-Nabor. Sale this week on Guidry's catfish for $3.69 a pound in a 15-pound box. I assume that's frozen. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Thanks. Anyone have any experience with Guidry's quality? Reply Back to Top |
| Guidry's frozen filets should do you just fine ... way better than BASA. Only a Bama fan would suggest that. Reply Back to Top |
| I have a buddy in Des Allemands that fishes catfish on the side. If you feel like making the drive i can check with him to see if he has any. If he has some it will be frozen. Reply Back to Top |

| Tony's is live in a tank when you walk in, none fresher. Basa???? Taking food advise from a Bama fan is like letting Stevie Wonder pick out the color of your car. Reply Back to Top |
