New CBS/NYT poll - Romney: 46, Obama: 43
Posted by Joe Joe Joe on 5/14 at 6:11 pm
quote:

Romney now leads the president among independents, while Mr. Obama has an advantage among moderates. Independents opted for Romney 43 percent to Mr. Obama's 36 percent, whereas moderates supported Mr. Obama 50 percent to Romney's 39 percent.

Both candidates continue to perform well with their political base. The president gets solid support from Democrats and liberals, while Romney is running strong with Republicans and conservatives.

Neither candidate has particularly strong favorability ratings, although Mr. Obama outperforms Romney in that arena: 45 percent of Americans each said they view the president favorably and unfavorably. Only 31 percent gave Romney a favorable rating, while 38 percent gave him a negative rating. Many voters continue to be undecided about Romney or haven't heard enough about him to have an opinion.

Some interesting stuff in this poll.

Romney leads with Women 46-44
More voters say that Romney's view on same sex marriage makes them more likely to vote for him. While more voters say that Obama's position makes them less likely.
70% of indies think Obama's position on SSM is politically motivated, and a plurality of Dems (48 vs 42) believe the same thing.

And it oversamples Dems, shocking I know. D/R/I of 34/25/41 total respondants 36/30/34 registered voters

Are the 36/30/34 numbers you referenced those in the actual population?

not only about him.

What ARE the teachings of the Church of the Latter Day Saints of Jesus Christ?

Still that business going where we can all "become as gods" in our next lifetime?

That does not sound like we are going to Heaven with Jesus when we die.

How can we "become as gods" in the next lifetime, if we are dead dead dead, when we die and go to heaven?

Hmmm?

Those people for him now over gay rights are going to have their heads spinning when they hear Mormon teaching, including that anyone who will not testify to the whole ball of wax must be SHUNNED, so he must claim to be aligned with the key elements.

How do they differentiate between moderates and independents? Are the moderates R's and D's that self-identify as being such?

Article VI....but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.

Interesting. So tell me Otto, why does a persons religious beliefs matter when they are running for public office? And if so does that mean we can talk about Obama eating dog because he grew up in a home that believed you took on the characteristics of what you ate?

PS. I believe that we can become as gods in our next lifetime, or at least down the line some.

But, I must point out that "becoming as a god" is not the be-all end-all, in the teaching of Adidam. All such events and ego-possibilities are equally NOT-it. They are all merely conditional.

Gimp,

as you are a realist, I will immediately ignore the part where we pretend to joust over silliness.

I know that you know, lots of black people will vote with the R's due to the R's effective manipulation of the biblical issues in this race. Its the plan. its the whole plan. abortion and gay rights are on referenda around the country, and as you know, it seems to be working for the R's.

So dont pretend its not. So... it makes sense to me to point out to those dimwits being led by the nose, that the guy holding their vote is a confidence man. A con.

While there is no official test, its a certainty that the R's used Obama's middle name against him and the pure fact that as a 6 year old he went to a madrassa.
That was all about connecting Osama and Obama. I saw FOX anchors using Obama and Osama interchangeably, for effect.

So dont priss me about the official rules of the road.

You first, MF.

And talk dog all you want. If what a 6 year old did ONCE is so powerful, you should make it your sig quote.
Look up his exact words. Go for it.

Here comes the big reach from the libtards. You can smell the panic from a mile away.
Probably didn't think they'd have to pull the Mormon card already. This will be fun to watch.

How can this poll oversample Dems & have Romney leading among women, 46-44%. That is inconsistent with every other poll & doesn't seem to make much sense.

I give Obama a slight edge right now but I feel the tide turning against him and the Dems in general.

I think Romney gets 55% of the popular vote with barry getting around 43%. Obama will get a least 200 electoral college votes, ie Cal & the left coast, NY, Il, PA, maybe MI and most NE states.

Ohio is going to be key but I Romney will win OH Romney is gonna get back a few 'purple' states that went to Obama in 2008 such as Nevada, Ark, Missouri and Iowa.
I think Romney can get a couple of 'blue' states such as New Jersey and Wisconsion, maybe even Minnesota.

6? There is no proof that he was 6, he could've just as easily been 10 as he didn't give an age when he ate the dog. He also never said he only did it once just that he was introduced to it when he was with his father.

quote:

With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy).

It's just as likely that he had dog meat more than once but neither of us know so I really don't care.

I'm not the one making an issue about events that happened in the past. The Obama campaign brought up that Romney transported his dog in a special crate on top of his car years ago. Obama's campaign is bringing up a prank, that may or may not have happened, 47 years ago. Time and again it is the Obama campaign bringing up the past so that means Obama's past is fair game as well, does it not?

I don't want to talk about those issues - I want to talk about Obama's dismal record on the economy and jobs. I want to talk about how his administration is trying to continuously claim that initial unemployment claims are going down by lowballing the number. There hasn't been a downward revision on initial unemployment claims in almost 15 months and almost 88% of the reports have later been revised upward.

I want to talk about trillion dollar deficits year after year after year and that the Dems haven't passed a budget in more than 1100 days. And the Romney campaign agrees with me. They aren't the ones dragging up events from Obama's childhood or high school days. Romney specifically said when asked about gay marriage "Aren't there important issues you'd like to talk about?" because he wants to focus on the economy and how Obama has been a Stuttering Clusterf of a Miserable Failure.

So spare me the faux outrage.

I don't know but you can look at the demos of the poll yourself. It gives Dems a +9 advantage in total respondants with a +6 advantage in registered voters. It's not as bad as some others out there but 2008 had a +7 dem advantage and this year won't be as Democratic.

The 2010 results will look good compared to what going to happen to the Dems in November. I have yet to see a single campaign sign that references the Democratic party. The Democrats have their name and then something generic. No mention of the Democratic Party. Even the Democrats are running away from the Democrats.

Check out the uptick from his [Obama's] "liberal" supporters, too. This poll is all over the place.

Two other interesting things about this poll.

First, it has Romney +2 with women, but only +3 overall, which is weird considering Romney's lead with men. Logically, Romney's overall lead should be higher.

Second, poll is of registered voters, which typically are left-leaning. Likely voter polls have normally been more encouraging for Romney. This is the first one of registered voters that I've seen Romney winning.
