Dularge Trout Question Posted by SeaPickle I usually fish cocodrie and have fished Dularge/Sister Lake once last month. I work here in Houma and plan on making a trip after work tomorrow with a co-worker who has never been. Have the trout moved south out of sister lake? I have never been further south than sister lake and only have an 18' polar craft so im limited on how far south i can go so im trying to figure out if i can get to them before we go. Thanks in advance Reply Back to Top
Further south = bigger trout If you can't make a run to the islands, maybe try Pelto. Reply Back to Top
I caught a nice mess in sister lake last month so im assuming they wouldnt be any further north than that. Winds should be pretty calm tomorrow so im hoping i can venture out a little further south than sister lake. Im trying to avoid the drive to cocodrie from dularge to optimize fishing time even though i know cocodrie very well Reply Back to Top
Once you hit sister lake head south and go though Big Bayou Dulare or Grand Calliou Bayou and you will hit the coast. From there if it looks calm and no big thunderheads you can head to the island which is southeast of Big Bayou Dularge or Grand Calliou Bayou. The fish are at the island. You can also try the near by platforms which you can see from the coast. You should have no problem in an 18ft boat as long as it is not to rough. If it is to rough fish along the coast toward Pelican Island and Taylor's Bayou. Good luck and let us know how you do. This post was edited on 5/14 at 1:21 pm Reply Back to Top

LipRipper - Thanks! thats what i was looking for. As long as the platforms are reachable from the coast i think i will be fine - damn flat bottom boat, i can make it to the sulphur mine in cocodrie so i hope i can find them here Reply Back to Top

When you cross Sister Lake heading south, and are alomst into Big Bayou Dularge, you will see a Channel Marker on your left hand side. DO NOT Pass on the left side of the Channel marker. Repeat, DO NOT pass on the left side of the channel marker. There is a sunken barge there, jsut below the surface of the water. You will leave your foot on it. Once you pass that, and make it to Caillou Bay, head south/SE from the mouth of Big Bayou Dularge and you will pick up an old platform off in the distance (It looks like a box sitting on the water from a few miles away). This is called ENSTAR. Fish that. South/SE of Enstar is Coon Point. Due West of ENSTAR is SS26 (The Pickets). Due West of the Pickets is the Mardi Gras Rigs. All Good Stuff. 18 ft Flat boat is pushing it. It gets rough out there, but if calm, go for it. Good Luck. Reply Back to Top

dpd901 - thats good info, thanks i know its pushing it but the weather says winds near 5 knots and calm seas for tomorrow afternoon so ill make the gamble. I've beat this boat to hell in Lake Pelto so ive seen its limits. Reply Back to Top
