| Celebrity Suicides, does media make it (suicide) seem popular? Watching Seau stuff on ESPN and wondering if media makes this look "cool" to avg kid? That they will get this kind of attention, (maybe attention they are seeking?) by doing something like this. Wouldn't it be better to promote that suicide isn't the answer? Reply • Back to Top |

| Unfortunate as it seems, I think that's a great point. The revenue a media company stands to generate certainly won't turn them off to the idea of reporting about it. Also, it works in proportion the more famous a person is/was, the more they will be reported on. Take Kurt Cobain versus the girl who jumped the MRB the other night, hell was that even on the news? | Suicide seems like one of the few things left that still seems a bit taboo to discuss publicly. There's always that "easy way out, he/she was selfish" crowd that honestly just doesn't need to be heard from. Everything else could seem like it is "endorsing" it in a way, I suppose. Basically, you can't condemn or condone it without causing even more pain to those left behind by the deceased, so it seems as though it is best left alone. Reply • Back to Top |
