Posted by Rohan2Reed on 5/10 at 9:56 am to ellishughtiger He pitched very well outside of one pitch, which I'm still trying to figure out. You have the bases loaded and two outs.. Tim is ahead in the count 0-2, Giants have the defense shifted toward left field, and he throws a changeup in the middle of the zone to a left-hander that Gwynn pulls into no-man's land in right field. Bases clear, he's in for a triple and the Dodgers take the lead. One of the biggest mistakes I've ever seen Lincecum make. Reply Back to Top |
| Yeah... I'm not sure what's going on with this guy. His whip was really high despite despite only one run before he collapsed. He's throwing a ton of pitches. Maybe he feels like he has to strike everyone out. IDK... I assume his coaches are working on him and if they are he ain't listening. Reply Back to Top |
Posted by Rohan2Reed on 5/10 at 12:57 pm to Zephyrius I think the main concern right now for the Giants in regards to Lincecum should be why is he not throwing his slider anymore? That's usually indicative of elbow issues. Is he hurt and trying to cover it up? Is the absence of Brian Wilson causing Tim to not use his slider anymore? (Wilson was great in the club house as far as helping out other pitchers). I thought maybe his velocity was down because his had a hip injury but he was up a couple mph last night (fastball was staying around 93), so that tells me he just needed to get his arm stretched out here at the start of the season. quote: He's been walking way too many batters. And a lot of guys are fouling off balls waiting for him to make a mistake in the zone. He's really struggling with the lack of a put-out pitch. His changeup/slider hybrid used to be one of the best in the league but he's been throwing a straight change in the dirt a ton this year for some reason. He also is having trouble locating his fastball (he didn't really last night though - I think the increased velocity helped him out because he wasn't trying to overthrow and that kept his control in order). He did strikeout 7 in 4 innings including retiring Kemp three times. I think Tim will be alright, just needs to keep working and keep his confidence/positive attitude. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
