re: Unexpected performance from an LSU player Cedric Donaldson vs UF 1997. 2 picks. One returned for a TD, the other returned to deep in UF territory. Dude really wasn't that good, but had a lights out performance in that game. Reply Back to Top

Whoever talked about Marcus Randall vs. FLA was spot on. Randall was about as average as they get, but every now and then he'd put on a remarkable performance. At the end of the year he went off against ARKY and won back the starting job, which he promptly lost in the 2nd half of the Cap One Bowl. His first start ever was also pretty sick against USCe. I think he was player of the week. Reply Back to Top
Everyone thought Marcus Randall was the second coming of Christ after we killed South Carolina in his first start in 2002. Then we went to Auburn the next week... Reply Back to Top

This probably only sticks out bc I was there, but Ryan Byrd going 7 innings his senior year against Vandy for the SEC tournament finals in 2009. He had only started 2 games all year and had been average at best, but threw a hell of a game. Maineri sent him back out there for the 8th inning so he could get an ovation when he ran back off the field before the inning started. This post was edited on 5/10 at 7:14 am Reply Back to Top
I was coming to post Rondell Mealey in the Independence Bowl, but I guess I was wrong. It was Keiland Williams that ran for over 200 yard against Notre Dame in the snow. Bret Laxton flat dominating in the championship game was a little unexpected for me. Reply Back to Top

Demetrius Hookfin: 2002 vs South Carolina Had 2 interceptions that game. 1 for a touchdown. Also had a 3rd INT that was returned for a TD but was called back because of a late hit on the QB I believe. Reply Back to Top

"His first start ever was also pretty sick against USCe." I was the one who posted about Randall and it is funny you mention the game against the Cocks. I came really close to citing that one, but went with UF because it was more dramatic and arguably more unexpected because he had to come off teh bench. In truth, Randall was a guy who was not all that gifted but he could occasionally produce a gem, and he sure did against Arky, as well. As I recall, we just annihilated the Hogs in that game. What a strange year. Reply Back to Top
I said it once, I'll say it again. The correct answer is Travis Daniels in the 2001 SECCG...We pulled the red shirt off of him in a confrence title game! Talk about thrown to the dogs... He helped shut down Donte Stallworth and Kelly Washington who had their way with us before half time. Reply Back to Top
