| I don't know if he's better than Xavi. Similar at least. But they do different things. Pirlo plays better long diagonal balls than anyone; Xavi isn't really asked to do that as much. An amazing player. Even though we kept a clean sheet against them last time, he had some holy shite passes. Reply • Back to Top |

| His pairing with Baggio was awesome. LINK Also, due to the role he plays on the pitch, he can theoretically continue to play for several more years (assuming his body holds up). The soccer universe owes a lot to guys like Pirlo, Xavi and Guardiola, who not only kept the deep-lying midfielder role alive, but who are leading the current footballing transition. It's why Barcelona have been so successful recently. We're currently in the midst of a football phase where everyone is starting to attempt to mimic Barcelona's futuristic play. You've seen an unbelievable rise in value of deep-lying playmakers to mimic Xavi (Schweinsteiger, Modric, Sneijder, Xabi), and the attempt of teams to try and implement a false 9 to mimic Messi (Rooney, Silva, Özil, Hazard, Mata (to a certain extent)). And it's no coincidence that the clubs with deep-lying midfielders on their squad are the clubs trying to go out and buy false 9s. And vice versa. Slowly moving away from forwards and traditional defenders and into a world of midfielders with a focus on smart passing and brilliant positioning. Once again, Pep leading the way with what he's done at Barcelona. Slowly transitioning mids like Mascherano to CB and putting guys like Alves at fullback where he is capable of transitioning up and down the pitch like a winger. | He plays in argentina i think. The problem with him wasn't so much his age, but he had knee surgery's on both legs. Last he was at Juve he was like, 31 or 32, but he ran like Patrick Ewing and had a 3 inch verticle because of his jump. Had to get rid of him. Reply • Back to Top |

Just looking at the stat sheet, Juve is second in the league in scoring so they aren't hurting too much. Still, if they had a guy like RVP, they would be fricking lethal.
