Posted by RandySavage on 6/19 at 11:18 am to UPT Just a thought I've had for a while. I always see people on this board and on the Chelsea board say things like "we can't pay x amount for y player" or "if we get offered x amount for y we have to take it". My question is why do you/we care? It's not our money. For example, just reading the Chelsea board a lot of people are saying things like 38m is too much or Hulk we should only buy him for no more than 30m etc... Who cares? It's not our money. If Roman wants to spend 300 million on him why should we care as long as he's a good fit for the team? Is it just about keeping an appearance of honor? Reply Back to Top |
I think because Arsenal fans have convinced them they should care. They do an admirable job with their youth academy and their transfer policies but they aren't winning anything. Roman is probably the best owner in the EPL. People talk about his lack of patience with Managers but the only sacking I took issue with was over Carlo. If the team needs anything he goes and gets it. Chelsea need width and creativity? Roman goes and gets Mata, Marin, De Bruyne, and Hazard... Roman is an easy target but he has resurrected CFC and made them a world force in soccer. Reply Back to Top

Yes we have led this propaganda campaign, wrongfully smearing Chelsea. There's never any talk or frustration concerning expenditures in other sports! Reply Back to Top
Saw that. Coming from reputable sources to. Your thoughts, hh? Reply Back to Top
I honestly thought they'd go after Jose Mourinho because Bayern has the players to play his system. If Pep can replicate what he did at Barcelona, I obviously love it. Reply Back to Top

Athletic de Bilbao's Josu Urrutia to Man City: Fernando Llorente's transfer fee is 37M, and not once centime less. This post was edited on 6/19 at 11:46 am Reply Back to Top

A lot of people on the Bayern board I read are extremely anti-Pep. I'm not surprised because Pep isn't German but I still expected more people to be on his side. Reply Back to Top
Pavel Pogrebynak is apparently signing with Reading and Andy Johnson with QPR. So Fulham have like one striker and apparently are going to go for the Spanish 4-6-0 but without all the world class players. To be fair, I wasn't really that interested in resigning either, especially considering Reading are apparently paying Pogrebynak kind of silly money. But Fulham need a few strikers, especially if Dempsey leaves. Reply Back to Top
Bayern are not hurting for midfield talent, fwiw. If he wants to play a possession game, then he can surely pull it off with Bayern Munich Reply Back to Top
Demebele and Orlando Sa are the only ones left. Ruiz is a "forward", but not a "striker." Any word on how good the money is from Reading? I agree neither interested me long term, but at the end of the day you do need bodies to play the positions. Reply Back to Top
I've read anywhere from 45-65 a week. Pretty vague, but regardless it would look like he would be one of the highest paid players at the club, not worth it considering they're (presumably) trying to resign Dempsey and Dembele. The only reason you sign with a newly promoted club like Reading is if they just offer a much better deal, and they've got some Russian owner that apparently has money. I think as far as "true" strikers go its really just Sa and Trotta, the 19 year old (who frankly barely counts at this point). Dembele and Ruiz and Clint can all play behind the striker. Reply Back to Top
| Yeah, Trotta has spent much of his time on loan/with reserves, so I'm not sure he's even on the radar. But who knows? I am sure he will see some extra PT during the preseason. Orlando Sa will have to step up because his role will most certainly be expanded. I scored 35 goals with him last season on FIFA. Just saying. Regardless, it just all depends on if we can convince Deuce to stick around. We did well enough not having a target striker pretty much all season. MAF needs to show us some dough. | QPR are apparently also looking at Paul Konchesky. I feel like if they were in the Europa League next year they could make a great run. Reply Back to Top |
What's Tottenham's hold on Modric (if any)? Last week through two important ex Croatian players he emphatically stated he wants to play in La Liga. I liked how he hunted down Iniesta for his jersey after the match. Reply Back to Top
Modric may move (Madrid?). Thought he was amazing versus Spain really, he was pretty much alone as a creative player against all the Spanish creative midfielders and he looked like the best player on the field at times. This post was edited on 6/19 at 11:56 pm Reply Back to Top
Excited about this: Diame passes cardiac medical as West Ham close in on midfielder Mohamed Diame has passed a cardiac medical with a London specialist as talks continue over a move to West Ham. Sunderland and Aston Villa remain interested in the former Wigan midfielder, 24, but Sam Allardyce is in pole position. Reply Back to Top Refresh
