| How Will LSU Fare In The MLB Draft? Posted by Peauxboy21 Thought you guys may enjoy this piece. I solicited the thoughts of someone who runs a MLB Draft site, MLB Draft Insider, regarding LSU's players and signees. I don't agree with all of his takes but interesting regardless. | Does anybody have any information on this Geonte' Jackson kid? It would appear that unless we get REALLY lucky with the draft that guy might well have a big opportunity to play as a freshman. Is he any good? Can he lead off? Can he field at all? Reply Back to Top |

| Great read. It is always hard to get solid baseball recruiting information for obvious reasons . Thank you. Reply Back to Top |
| It would be nice for the draft to be kind to us for once! It had been a while since June gave us a break Reply Back to Top |
| Not an LSU signee, but since you mentioned his name I'll go ahead and talk about him. Watched Stryker Trahan play last night against EA, and man, he looks MLB ready right now. He's got all the tools to be in the bigs in as soon as 3-4 years. BIG kid, tree trunk forearms. Incredible arm, didn't let anything by him last night behind the plate. He's already swinging a wood at the plate, so you can tell he has 0% interest in ole miss. One of the most impressive high school kids I've ever seen, talent and potential wise. Reply Back to Top |

quote: I think its a forgone conclusion Geonte will be at LSU in the fall. He's still very raw and three years of college will do him good. Jackson's your prototypical leadoff guy who I see fighting for either LF/CF as a Tiger. Trahan and Cecchini will not be attending Ole Miss. Reply Back to Top |
| Adam, you know anything about the Rogers kid at Parkview Baptist? He signed with Auburn, LHP. I was told by a PBS coach, he's better than Russel Reynolds, but for some reason LSU told him they weren't interested. Have you seen either of them pitch? Reply Back to Top |
quote: Both of them threw against us earlier in the year and I'd be shocked if RR made it to LSU....he was averaging 92 or so with his fastball and hit 94 a few times. Rogers is very good as well......what makes him more attractive to MLB, IMO, is that he's a lefty that has really good movement and arm strength. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Not to mention the kid can flat-out fly.......very high pick IMO. When we played them, there were 15 MLB scouts at the game. Reply Back to Top |
| Glad Mainieri didn't waste his time with Trahan and Cecchini. Hate when we get those 100% for sure guys who are going pro...although Gallo and the puerto rico kid look to definitely be gone, they don't project quite as high as maybe those other 2. Poor Ole Miss, Trahan already playing with wood obviously means he gives 2 shits less about college. I remember when an Ole Miss fan or two came on here talking shite how they were getting LA's best 2 players away from LSU As far as the other guys, looks like we are sitting in better shape with Bregman than we were months ago. If we could land him that would be HUGE as we need infielders very badly for next season losing Hanover and Nola. Not so sure we have someone who can play 3B currently on the team...and I wouldn't want to see Yocum at SS, even if he's solid defensively because the dude just can't hit. | yea, I was told Rogers has alot of movement. I would think LSU would be interested in him, being a lefty, but maybe there is more I dont know. Ole Miss fans were stoked about Cecchini and Trahan. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I've seen both, in my opinion they're two completely different pitchers. Rogers has a great arm...reached 90-91mph before from the left side. I haven't heard talk that LSU flat out wasn't interested in him it could stem from the fact they feel he may have high draft potential next month. If he ends up at Auburn he'll be a solid guy for them. Reynolds isn't too shabby either, he touches 90mph from the right side. When first looking at Russel he reminded me of Blake Johnson (04) who signed with the Dodgers in the 2nd round. He won't go nearly as high as Blake but they have very similar make-ups. quote: A few months ago I overheard two guys saying "You hear Ole Miss is getting those two studs from LA, Trahan and Cecchini" I smirked and said "What do you mean 'getting' them?"
