My comic knowledge is...pedestrian. And that's putting it mildly. Pretty much just watch whatever animated stuff that's been on television in the last 20 years or so. And I know Marvel vs DC stuff is rampant, but if I were to guess that whoever this Thanos is, his impact is something like Darkseid is to Superman and the Justice League would that be about ballparking it?

Cuz the way he smiled like he's gonna come and start wrecking people's shite.

pretty much from what I remember.

to the other guy's question on Thor (and speaking of wrecking shit), I also thought maybe Thor coulda done more damage to the aliens in the final fight.

I really hope the sequel ups the ape shite crazy ante and the battle with Thanos moves to space/the universe. I hope Thanos's army aren't just a bunch of faceless goons -- one of the few gripes I have about Avengers.

From many standpoints, yes. I'm pretty sure I've read articles where the guy who created him for Marvel pretty much admitted ripping off Darkseid. (Interestingly, I think he said he originally was going for ripping off another one of those New God guys - maybe Metron? Thus the chair. But he was encouraged to amp the guy up).

From a power standpoint, I think the comparison with Darkseid is also apt.

The "hook" or "catch" about Thanos is that he is in love with an entity called Lady Death who is the personification of Death in the MU and thus he's always trying to kill a bunch of people. I don't know enough about Darkseid to say whether or not that matches with him.

Yeah, because of the cosmic entities needed to flesh out Thanos, you need a MCU cosmic movie of some sort to in order for whenever Thanos faces The Avengers for it to match the pace of A1.

I do agree with whoever said the alien type invasion was already done in #1 so maybe its not the best idea to basically do that all over again in #2

also just a thought, but since they showed the gauntlet in Asgard during Thor, could Thanos be the main bad in Thor 2 destroying that planet?

I see that happening. I think we get a few other Avenger character movies before we get another Avengers.

Yeah that would work, Thanos has to be fleshed out. The great thing about The Avengers movie is that there was no origins needed and we could go straight into the story.Origins can weigh down a great movie.
