Avengers 2 Story Line theories *spoilers*
Posted by jmarto1 on 5/7 at 5:27 pm
I thought about adding this to the other Avengers 2 thread but that was focused on new characters. Since that was obviously Thanos (and Death?) at the end do you think they are going with the Infinity Gauntlet?

Thanos is going to get a new army (Skrulls please) and lead them himself into battle on Earth.

Profit.

Damn Katrina got my whole set of The Infinity Gauntlet. I was looking to brush up on it. If they go this route I believe they'll try to bring in FF4 and Silver Surfer.

Infinity Gauntlet would be obvious choice since it makes an appearance in Thor.

Here is my issue with Thanos being main bad guy in #2.

#1 is already the evil alien invasion story line, we are just going to do the same thing right away?

I see a story line more like the creation of Ultron, possibly due to Thanos or not, or fighting the Hulk.

Something where Thanos is in the background, but not just aftercredits, and then the third movie is where Thanos just comes to earth to kick ass

I agree. You really need to introduce Thanos to all of the non-comic readers. I like how they did that with Loki. Most people were familiar with Thor but maybe not Loki. Same situation here.

This.

I am not a comic book reader so I had absolutely no idea who Loki was until last night but they did a terrific job telling the story enough to bring me up to speed on who he was and how he fit with Thor. I havent seen the Thor movie either (yeah yeah, I know, unacceptable ) so that was really nice the way they brought him in and explained everything.

Fox owns the rights to the fantastic 4 so that's out of the question.

If Thanos comes to earth to fight head-on , it will be interesting to see how they end up defeating him. Because he is too powerful to actually be defeated by the avengers, he would have to make a silly mistake, like he does i'n the comics.

assuming they make him the same character/power level as the comics.

Just a guess but I would assume they have Thanos acquire the cube or the gauntlet or some other device, which makes him all super charged, but that without the "weapon" he is someone Hulk and Thor could punch out

Depends on how you handle the creation of Ultron.

Do you keep it canon with Hank Pym? And if you do, do you have him serve as just a scientist or do you have him as Ant Man too? If he's Ant Man, you are gonna have to make him an "able" team member, which would much harder for him finding a foe as Ant Man as it would as Giant-Man.

Or do you credit his creation to someone like Tony Stark? As if he was trying to make a fully functioning suit that did not require human control. And how to you seperate that from similarities to Iron Man 2?

Ultron was just something I threw out there as an example of a storyline that could be used for Avengers 2 to set up a climatic battle in 3 for Thanos. I haven't written a screenplay for it.

Well, you better get started on that.

Narrative first, script second, and finally the screenplay. There's a process and you have to follow it or you will lose your damn mind.

If I remember correctly Silver Surfer is pretty involved with the Infinity Gauntlet. I could be wrong. If I'm right I wonder how it will work

I don't think they'd have a problem throwing someone else in there.

The entire Marvel Universe is involved with the Infinity Gauntlet. Surfer was a bigger part of the story, than say Spider-Man or Wolverine but nothing imperative IMO

Well that would be dumb. It would be interesting to see how they would handle the infinity gauntlet. He killed half the universe i'n the comics .
