| What is the legacy of Matty Ott? Posted by DBG 2009: 4-2, 2.68 ERA, 16 saves 2010: 2-4, 6.38 ERA, 11 saves 2011: 1-3, 2.60 ERA, 6 saves clearly his freshman year was his best, the only reason his ERA was even that high was because of that outing against Alabama where he gave up like 5 runs. he was completely dominant that year and probably had the best year an LSU reliever has ever had. then he just fell off. his 2011 season wasnt that bad, but he only logged 27 innings, down from 50 his freshman year. his 2010 season was pretty awful. so how is Ott remembered? I know he has the all-time save record, but it's hard for me to put him among the best ever. What say you? Reply Back to Top |

| When someone says Matty Ott I think of the 09 season first and everything else second Reply Back to Top |

quote: What gave you this idea some guys asked if Ott was one of the top relievers ever for LSU and people are answering with our opinions. Nice troll though Reply Back to Top |

| For me -- He was our monster closer the year we won the CWS- 2009. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Yep and was a big reason why we won the NC in '09. Without him Coleman never sees the starting rotation. Reply Back to Top |

| Great freshman year. Didn't show up for next 2 years Reply Back to Top |
| He was one of the best ever his freshman year. 2010 was horrendous. He was better in 2011 but still had his 2010 moments. No matter how much better he was in 2011 he'll be remembered for blowing the save in game 2 vs. Mississippi State that kept LSU out of the SEC tournament and regional play. Reply Back to Top |
| There is no legacy. Reply Back to Top |
| Took a season for hitters to figure his moving fastball out Once that happened he wasnt worth much of a roster spot imo Reply Back to Top |
quote: A slider that hitters couldn't lay off of his freshman year; BP fastball that they teed off on once they learned to lay off the slider. Reply Back to Top |
quote: this... i think of the dominant '09 first, then the 7 inning performance in 2010 in game 3 against Alabama when Dozar hit the walk off in the 14th. the rest is whatever IMO Reply Back to Top Refresh |
