| re: How strong is the word "WE" when it comes to LSU sports? Speaking as someone who did not attend LSU, I alsways say LSU will or LSU won..... I feel that you should only use WE if you played for, attended or contribute to the school in some way. I really don't think being a big fan such as myself gives you the right to say WE. I feel like the same goes for pro sports teams as well but this is simply my opinion take it for what it's worth. Reply Back to Top |

| I'm not an alum, due to a family move and my scholly not covering out of state. But I'm from Louisiana and 99% of my family are either alum or from LA. I say WE during the good and bad and anyone who says I can't say that can kiss my arse This post was edited on 5/3 at 1:11 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: I was P&G when I was in single digits. Going to games and following LSU anyway I could and anytime I could. Where I went to school or where I didn't was gonna make no difference as to who I followed/supported for the rest of my life. It was a done deal. There can be any number of reasons why any of us went to whatever college we picked. Reply Back to Top |

| Very important..... LSU is THE state school......my son will attend there in the fall.....I went there for a year....and I absolutely bleed purple and gold. If someone questions that.....I tell them to stfu Reply Back to Top |
| I’ll tell what WE means, WE means being an alumni, as in LSU is my Alma Mater x2. Nothing I hate to see more than some busted up pickup truck in Destin covered with LSU stickers. Don’t embarrass MY institution. I paid the dues, spent the hours, a lot of people on campus on a Saturday don’t even know where the library is, or what all those “other” buildings exist for, other than to urinate on. | I'm usually that smart ass. The reason I call people out for it is because of ego identification. People tie their success or failure as a human being to a team they don't play for. It's more than a little dysfunctional. Have you ever had another team's fans laugh at you and attempt to humiliate you simply because a team they like beat a team you like? It's sick an its weird. Some people know how to just have fun with it but most do not seem to share that awareness. I get mad about a lot of other things, too. People thinking that everything is about the championship is a big one. When you expect something so much, you lose focus of what you're doing in the here and now. Championships are won by teams who focus on every play of every game. You may say "well I dont have to focus because I don't actually play." If you should say that, then I would ask you "why do you say WE when it comes to wins, then?" ...... Reply Back to Top |
| Hmmmm I dont think WE means alumni. You sound like an elitist prick. I'm pretty sure then only people that are 100% when using WE are the players. Reply Back to Top |
quote: You do realize "apart" means "separate from", correct? I think you meant "a part" Also, you make a good point about being contributor to a program but in the end, it's the players and coaches that success depends upon. Reply Back to Top |
| people that complain about fans using the term we are uptight a-holes. without "US" there is no "THEM" we are all fans and claim that team to our fandem.. usually when the term we is thrown around it is to another fan or somehow in fan type of talk.. so they relate.. if it's another fan of another team then they can ask who is your team? does that mean it is literally OUR team? it's the right of a fan. what is sports without it's fans? some people devote their lives to these teams.. they are apart of their life.. let them claim that.. who exactly it is hurting.. why be some uptight anal a-hole? quote: you sound ignorant. anybody can be a fan regardless of their pick up truck or if they can locate the library. if they bleed p&g they're a fan! :getoveryourself: Reply Back to Top |
quote: Not exactly sure about this, I am about town quite a bit and do not see this. But regardless, what does that really matter? Are you saying a poor man cannot be a part of the we? Reply Back to Top |
| If people are turned off by saying "we" then they are pompous fricks... This post was edited on 5/4 at 7:19 am Reply Back to Top |
| Any LSU alumnus, myself included, always has the right to use "we" IMO. Anyone else requires more consideration. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I had a big argument a couple years ago with my wife's uncle about this. He wanted Miles gone at the time and said something like, "I pay part of his salary and so does every other person in Louisiana." I had to explain that simply is not the case. If you donate to TAF then some of your money goes to his salary, still doesn't give you the right to try and fire him BTW I use 'we' for LSU. Don't use it for the Cowboys. I am a Tiger, I attended LSU like many of you, WE ARE TIGERS Reply Back to Top |
quote: LSU's fan base strengthens the teams. The home field is huge, and Tiger fans can say "we" all we want. Well, at least for football and baseball. Basketball? not so much. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
