re: 2 things that I noticed about The Dark Knightquote:He uses one of his toys right? Reply Back to Top |
quote: No, he opens his cape a half second before they hit the car. I think the whole scene was very sloppy. Could've easily had Batman use his grappling gun and then show a brief shot of the Joker looking down and then escaping with his men. Not to mention Batman just suddenly appears in the middle of the party and nobody notices him until he says "You're going to love me!" before he punches the Joker. I know he was trained a ninja but he's not invisible. Reply Back to Top |
| Eh, that kind of stuff doesn't bother me so much. You kind of have to look past the "that would never happen" stuff to enjoy movies sometimes. Reply Back to Top |
quote: This is where you are wrong! From Batman Begins: Ducard: You know how to fight six men, we can teach you how to engage six hundred. You know how to disappear, we can teach you to become truly invisible. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Making himself invisible at loading docks and and abandoned warehouses is a little different than suddenly appearing on the floor in the center of a room full of a hundred people. He should've used that ability when he confronted the Joker at the end instead of just strolling through the door. I get what you're saying, but I think they could've done a slightly better job of editing that scene. This post was edited on 5/2 at 1:49 pm Reply Back to Top |
| "Bruce's place might be the safest place in Gotham right now." Joker's already broken into it once. Seems like a pretty large assumption. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Well considering that the Joker's tentacles also stretched into City Hall as well as the Police Department, she just might have been right. Reply Back to Top |
Posted by TheDarkestNight on 5/2 at 2:35 pm to LfcSU3520 quote: True, but The Joker had no idea that Bruce was also Batman nor did he know that Rachel was going there either. Hell only 4 people knew that's where she'd be: Her, Dent, Bruce, and Alfred. Some of the "holes" in the script really aren't "holes", they just didn't show the lead-up or post-action events. They could have filmed them, but would adding another 10-15 minutes to the script really be worth it? I guess they could have threw them on the home release though. Reply Back to Top |
quote:I agree. I don't need to see the Joker's conversations with all the policemen he blackmailed, or how he managed to rig two warehouses, two ferries, a fat guy and an entire hospital to blow up while he was in jail part of the time, but the scene at Bruce's was like "Hey wait a sec". It is a pretty big WTF moment IMO. Reply Back to Top |
| True to assume the guy doesnt know its wayne, until morgan makes that statement about blackmailing a vigilante that beats people up. Then also wayne saving his ass. Neither of the 2 things in the op were frick ups. Reply Back to Top |

It's obvious that he threw her arse out the window to make a getaway, so why throw another 2-3 minutes in there for no reason? I have wondered why he didn't toss more people out the window, but that's probably because all his goons were wiped out so he ran out the backdoor so to speak while everyone was looking down to see what was going on. | Just watched the scene again. The accountant says "What are you building for him now, a rocketship?" So he thinks it's Bruce Wayne. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I listened to it again too, and I heard that part, but it is still ambiguous. By "him," he could have just meant Batman and not Bruce Wayne. EG: "What are you building for Batman now, a rocketship?" or "What are you building for Wayne now, a rocketship?" Either one fits; so, it still isn't clear that the accountant knew it was Bruce. It is only clear that the accountant knows Wayne Enterprises is working for Batman, building him toys and R&D. This post was edited on 5/2 at 4:49 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: Not only that but as Morgan Freeman completely owns him, his smirk is completely wiped off his face. It's pretty obvious what Reese was insinuating to Fox. There's no need to try to be clever and say, "Ah! But Reese never mentioned Wayne by name!" because it's very clear that he knows Bruce Wayne is Batman. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Take a look at Reese's face as Fox is owning him. He obviously knows Bruce Wayne is Batman by the way he reacts. His smirk disappears as he comes to the realization that it would be pretty difficult to blackmail someone who can beat his arse up. And plus he never says, "Who said anything about Bruce Wayne?" He simply tells Fox, quite awkwardly, to keep the files on the Tumbler before leaving. This post was edited on 5/2 at 3:56 pm Reply Back to Top |
| Go back to the scene where Wayne Enterprises is meeting with the Asian company about working together. Bruce is passed out cold while they are waiting and Reese, the accountant is pissed by his boss being sloppy at work. He is then told to run the Asian companies numbers again, which is pointless because Fox and Wayne were never planning on working with them in the first place. It is implied that Reese puts 2 and 2 together and figures it is his sleeping (tired from kicking arse all night) richest man in the world boss, who promoted the formerly demoted head of R&D to his right hand man, and funnels money into that program, that is actually Batman. I'm not seeing how any one is having issues here. This post was edited on 5/2 at 4:26 pm Reply Back to Top |
Posted by TheDarkestNight on 5/2 at 4:25 pm to RollTide1987 Yea there were some much BS that Lucius could have fed him to get him off the trail, but he just took the easy, simple, bitchslap way. Reply Back to Top |
First, I don't really have an issue with this either way. Whether or not the accountant knew before or realized at that moment has no affect on the film for me. That said... quote: I don't think his smirk disappearing "obviously shows" he knew Bruce was the Bat. I think his smirk disappears because the reality of what he is trying to do hits him, regardless of who Batman actually is [even though Lucius clears any confusion]. Even if it is not Bruce that is Batman, the accountant is trying to blackmail [crime] the company [with lots of resources] that is backing a badass vigilante [crime stopper]. So, his smirk would falter on its own, even if Lucius didn't make it clear. Stated differently, Lucius could have not made it clear Bruce was Bat, and the accountant could have/ likely would have done the same thing. quote: I think this is a stronger argument that he [accountant] likely knew, or should have known. But even this argument can be dismissed, because there are a lot of reasons for Bruce Wayne to be passed out at a meeting besides fighting crime. Like hookers and blow, I mean who is going to think a millionaire playboy with the world at his finger tips is going to risk life and limb beating up badguys. Not to mention, Bruce is probably thought of as being soft and from money, and not the badass that we the viewer know that he is. Stated another way, just because the accountant connects the dots between Wayne Enterprise and Batman, doesn't mean the next logical thought is that Bruce is Batman. Heck, presumably, Wayne Enterprise could have hired any badass to be Batman. This post was edited on 5/2 at 4:51 pm Reply Back to Top |
| I think it's perfectly obvious what Nolan intended for Reese to be implying as most people in the theater got the same impression. Only those who try to be cleverer than they really are have a different interpretation for what Reese was getting at. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
