Not to mention Batman just suddenly appears in the middle of the party and nobody notices him until he says "You're going to love me!" before he punches the Joker. | Go back to the scene where Wayne Enterprises is meeting with the Asian company about working together. Bruce is passed out cold while they are waiting and Reese, the accountant is pissed by his boss being sloppy at work. He is then told to run the Asian companies numbers again, which is pointless because Fox and Wayne were never planning on working with them in the first place. It is implied that Reese puts 2 and 2 together and figures it is his sleeping (tired from kicking arse all night) richest man in the world boss, who promoted the formerly demoted head of R&D to his right hand man, and funnels money into that program, that is actually Batman. First, I don't really have an issue with this either way. Whether or not the accountant knew before or realized at that moment has no affect on the film for me. I think his smirk disappears because the reality of what he is trying to do hits him, regardless of who Batman actually is [even though Lucius clears any confusion]. Even if it is not Bruce that is Batman, the accountant is trying to blackmail [crime] the company [with lots of resources] that is backing a badass vigilante [crime stopper]. So, his smirk would falter on its own, even if Lucius didn't make it clear. Stated differently, Lucius could have not made it clear Bruce was Bat, and the accountant could have/ likely would have done the same thing. quote: I think this is a stronger argument that he [accountant] likely knew, or should have known. But even this argument can be dismissed, because there are a lot of reasons for Bruce Wayne to be passed out at a meeting besides fighting crime. Not to mention, Bruce is probably thought of as being soft and from money, and not the badass that we the viewer know that he is. Stated another way, just because the accountant connects the dots between Wayne Enterprise and Batman, doesn't mean the next logical thought is that Bruce is Batman.
