Best place to buy already built gaming computer? Posted by wope Not sure if I feel like dealing with the hassle of building one myself again, so I'm willing to pay a little more to order an already built system. Any recommendations on who to buy from? I don't need anything ridiculously powerful - will mainly be used for D3. Looking to spend ~750 or less.Reply Back to Top
i would think places like cyberpowerpc and ibuypower should have what you are looking for Reply Back to Top
I would guess Ibuypower.com or cyberpowerpc.com. How much of a hassle is it really? It'll take maybe 2 hours if you've done it before and you'll save ~100(I think) over those two sites. Reply Back to Top
bought a laptop from ibuypower. had to ship it off twice for the exact same issue within my warranty phase. it's now a paper weight in the closet that I pull out randomly if I remember something is on it I need. That said, my brother has bought from Ibuypower and never had an issue. I know nothing about their desktops though, to be honest. Reply Back to Top
I guess I just don't feel like dealing with parts not working, having to send stuff back etc... but I suppose that is possible with an already built system, as well. How much could I save by building? I haven't built a comp in probably 10 years or so. Could I possibly spend less than 500 on a budget gaming system? Don't need monitor, KB, mouse, speakers, and just need something that will run D3 on high settings. Reply Back to Top
Here's one I was looking at. LINK Could I build something better, with O/S, for much less than that? Reply Back to Top
I just built mine on cyberpower and the cost was 1460. I paid 1226 off newegg/amazon FWIW ETA: Actually I paid 1286, forgot about the hdd I got off ebay. You would basically be paying 10-15% for labor. This post was edited on 4/30 at 10:52 am Reply Back to Top
Just so you know, they shipped the parts to me separately. The CPU and mobo were set up with wiring but the GPU, fans, power supply, RAM all came in their own box. You will need basic knowledge of how to assemble that stuff Reply Back to Top

Posted by sbr2 on 4/30 at 2:53 pm to MaroonDawg My first gaming PC I ordered from Cyberpower about 8 years ago. Maybe I cheaped out and didn't want them to assemble it, but it definitely needed some assembly Reply Back to Top |
Just look for a barebones kit. Reply Back to Top

too lazy for that. would rather just spend the 100 and not deal with it not working later Reply Back to Top

LOL i am in the same boat as you. I want to play d3 but need a gaming computer. Reply Back to Top
quote:Groovy. Just keep in mind that cheaper gaming PCs are already packed with cheap-ish components, so you run into similar reliability and durability issues. If you have the know-how there really is no reason (aside from laziness) not to DIY. I would save the money and spend the 30 minutes turning a screwdriver. Either way, have fun playing new releases for 30-45 minutes then re-installing Worms 2 and playing for hoursandhoursandhours... Reply Back to Top |
Ahh, starting to get the itch to build it myself now. Doesn't seem to be much cheaper, though. What's a good site to compare CPUs/video cards? Trying to determine the best value. I know AMD used to be the better bang for the buck. Reply Back to Top
Look at Tom's Hardware and follow the reviews on Blues News. You can also get an idea of how end users like components by following the reviews on newegg. As for cost--it may not end up being much cheaper, but I would be more confident in a pc I built than one an Internet retailer paid a company to pay a kid in china to put together. Wish I could help you specifically with hardware suggestions, but I haven't paid attention in a couple of years. My 5 year old box with a R5770 is still ripping out ME3 and Skyrim at 1900x1200 with good frame rates, so I haven't looked. Reply Back to Top Refresh
