When you pass a speed trap on the hwy
Posted by Whiskey Richard on 4/28 at 11:40 am
And you're speeding, do you get a pain or temporary soreness in your legs? I usually do the standard 7-8 mph over, but sometimes the foot gets heavy. But I always get that feeling when I see those frickers

When you see them it's already too late most of the time. I just continue driving the same.

If anything I just take my foot off the gas. If you brake, they know.

Why the Frick does everyone slow down to ten miles below the damn speed limit when they see a cop with someone pulled over on the interstate?!??

Its common courtesy, and the law. Especially if you can't move over for said stopped vehicle.

maybe a "pit-in-stomache" feeling

This! If you slam on the breaks or even slow down you're screwed

If I cant get them on my radar detector, I usually jam on the brakes to drop it down to 75. If it is a radar gun, I can normally beat it and slow down fast enough. Laser, not so much

Just got a ticket the other day for 87 in 70. They got me with a freaking helicopter.

I got one of those on the basin bridge a couple of months ago.

I feel like it's cheating.

I don't care if they know. As long as I slow down before they put the radar on me I'm good. Unless they just make up a speed when they write the ticket, which would be a dick move.

yeah. i get a mini adrenaline rush, and i feel my foot start to shake as i press on the pedal. same feeling i get when i think i am getting pulled over and then the cop passes me or when i just barely avoid a collision. when someone is merging into my lane on the interstate and they don't check their blinker and almost side swipe me, i get the same shaking feeling in my legs.

Already got out of one because the prosecutors are such idiots. They dont expect anyone to challenge them in court. Guy in the damn helicopter didnt even show up. Prosecutors are easy to beat. I just got out of something else in BR completely because I didnt commit the crime as described in the statute. This one prosecutor listened to me for a second and responded,"Well we can knock it down if you just donate money to this and this..." I told him GFY and lets get this going. I was the only one in a courtroom of maybe 50 that challenged the charges

For my 87 in 70, there were no marks on the road to judge the distance. There is a large margin of error depending on how far they were pacing me. Helicopter speed inside the helicopter is hard to match up with some else's speed. Thats why you seem to be going the same speed as a plane coming into NO. Oh yeah, they dont have a radar or laser gun in the helicopter either.

GD cops were walking out in the middle of the interstate to pull people over. I had 3 people lock up the brakes literally next to me trying to swerve around these idiots. One of them got pissed because a car couldnt slow down fast enough to be where they wanted it to be. The cop wanted the car to reverse on the interstate to get to him. Guy in the car got out and said he wasnt doing that and the trooper proceeded to scream at him, curse him out, and peel out and slam on the brakes when he got to him.

I spoke to the trooper that gave me the ticket and asked, "Honestly, how safe do you think what you are doing is? It is probably the stupidest thing I have ever seen". His answer was "A whole lot safer than you going 87"

I guess you cant fix stupid

I used to have a GF like that. I thought it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen

Most cops are lazy and run their radar in Constant-On mode. Even a cheap POS Walmart detector should give you enough time to slow down before you come into range of being clocked. Instant-On radar is a whole different animal. Once the cop hits you with it, you're toast. Slowing down wont do you any good unless you were maybe barely over his speed threshold and could get under before he locks your speed on his display.

Laser or LIDAR is even worse. A radar detector that detects laser is basically a ticket notifier. Only good thing about laser is that it can't be used while moving and most cops would rather just drive or sit in their cars and let their radar do all the work. That and LIDAR guns are very expensive compared to radar units.

This.

If the cop has someone pulled over you know he is not running radar, it's like a free pass to speed. Just don't blow past him too fast or he may decide you are more important.

It's the law to slow down ten miles below the speed limit? Really?

I have beat Instant-On many times(>15). You just have to have a fast reaction time when they turn on. I can drop the speed ~5-10mph woth just a quick tap on the brakes

Dont know where you live, but it is perfectly legal to have a radar/laser detector in LA. They dont run VG-2 in Louisiana.

I can sometimes get a laser bouncing off of another car, but when you actually get pegged, you're fricked

Pacing is such bull shite. Most of the time it involves a cop matching your speed from behind at night. Most cops don't do it properly though. They say they saw you hauling arse and that they were doing over 100 to catch up to you so you must of been doing at least 90+.
