| It's funny how the news media isn't covering the high unemployment numbers under Obama they way they covered the low unemployment under Reagan. For those of you too young to remember it went like this: Good Evening, I'm Dan Rather, and our top story tonight... the Reagan white house is crowing about the new unemployment figures. Now at a 3 year low. But that doesn't help people like Gertie Buggs as we see in this report from Connie Consern. Video begins with 40 year old woman looking in empty kitchen cupboard. Voice over from Connie: Although the unemployment rate has fallen to 4% these are still tough times for that 4% that can't find work. Like Gertie Buggs of Dry Prong, Louisiana. Gertie: I don't know what they talkin' bout. I don't see no good economy. When Jimmy Carter was President I had me a job. I worked at the Dollar Store. I had to miss a year with a bad back. I was on disability but now it run out. They hired someone new and I can't find me no job nowhere. I got 5 children. They always hungry and I don't know where we gonna get food. It's bad. | Despite the story carried by yahoo from reuters being only 45 minutes old, I noticed that it was not in the 10 or so stories under "news" on my yahoo homepage. Puppy on runway is there. Charlotte bobcats' story is there. Dip in mortgage rates there. All of them older stories, yet no jobless number headline. I wonder why? Reply Back to Top |
| Not one net job has been created since Obama took office. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Obama has created a new simplified mathematical reporting technique. Instead of discussing deviation in terms of plus or minus, we can now discuss deviation simply in terms of plus. It's less confusing for the general public that way. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
