re: Things I learned from Mintquote: I would pay more too for enhanced investment features in Mint. Every time I log in it either has it right or it doesn't, sometimes doesn't load doesn't get today's values until tomorrow, etc. Only thing is has semi-accurate is my allocation of ETFs. I use a combination of Vanguard's built in stuff with Google Finance. Any other suggestions? I really would just like to to be able to see my allocation chart, price changes all on one page with a nice interface. Reply Back to Top |
| thinks i learned about the past year: i spent an average of $1200/mo on food for 2 people. %50 of that is on groceries the wife and i bought a little over $2000 worth of polo clothes we spent (mostly her) $1500 on hair salons $5300 on alcohol & tobacco (i really need to split these up and track separately) since ive started tracking stuff in quicken, roughly 5 years, we've spent $480,000 including payroll taxes Reply Back to Top |

quote: I like that you included a total number. I'll share mine. Since August 2011 since I started tracking, it appears I spent $17,321 which includes rent and all that jazz. From what it appears, I live off about 23,000 a year. Which is what I lived off during college. This post was edited on 4/25 at 9:02 pm Reply Back to Top |
| It really opens your eyes when you look at it like that. I don't feel like we spend a ton of money. Of course 25% of that number is taxes, but it still lights a fire under your arse to save more Reply Back to Top |
quote: Sure does. I didn't include taxes, its too upsetting. Reply Back to Top |
| yeah, poor people don't understand. It sucks having a huge chunk taken by the government and watching it get blown on stupid shite. Couldn't imagine being one of those at the top of the tax bracket. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Correction...it sucks having a huge chunk taken by the government and watch it get blown on stupid government shite as opposed to me being able to blow it on stupid me shite that I might get some enjoyment out of. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Last year, I spent over $16K on dining out alone. Granted, the majority of it was business, but damn. Reply Back to Top |
