| re: Marcus Thornton named #5 SG in NBA Posted by DanPatrick on 4/25 at 1:30 pm to Tellem why did scott trade him?Reply Back to Top |
quote: Scott had nothing to do with it. Demps/Williams traded him for multiple reason. A lot of speculation went around that he and Chris Paul were far from friends. You could even see by the way Chrissy Poo lashed out at him on the court at every chance. That said, it has been speculated that the front office was doing everything to please Chris Paul, and that included jettisoning Thornton for Carl Landry, who helped us make the playoffs when David West got hurt. | The public answer was that he did not work hard on defense, which is Monty's bread and butter. Reply Back to Top |

| SGs absent from list: Manu Ginobili, Ray Allen, (World Champion) Jason Terry, Eric Gordon When He's Healthy, Joe Johnson, while Kevin Martin and OJ Mayo are probably equal to MT5 Reply Back to Top |

| as a Grizzlies fan, no Oj Mayo is not equal to Marcus Thornton. OJ is unbelievable when he's on, but he's wildly inconsistent; however, he's been much better the last half of the season. Marcus has a .438 FG%. OJ has a .406 FG%. They have about the same 3 pt %. Marcus is also much better at the free throw line. They're both so-so on defense, which is why Tony Allen starts over OJ even with his lackluster offense. Reply Back to Top |
| Lol this list is a joke. Reply Back to Top |
| What is the context here? What are they being listed for? Reply Back to Top |
quote:Go Griz! OJ is not, but Tony Allen is a better all-around SG than Thorton IMO. Best perimeter defender in the NBA. But OJ may be a more valuable player overall, in that he also plays 10+ minutes at PG every night, which Thorton doesn't (and probably can't) do. | yeah that is true about OJ playing PG, but that's more out of necessity than anything because selby and pargo are awful. I love OJ but he can be so frustrating at times Reply Back to Top |
Posted by JabarkusRussell on 4/26 at 1:49 pm to TheDoc Hornets may have top 10 defense but they also rank 29/30 in offense. I'd rather be in the middle on both which they had with Thornton.Reply Back to Top |
| Kobe behind Wade makes this just wrong. Reply Back to Top |
