Damn, I used to deliver pizza all around here last year. If it's getting to be this bad, it might as well have been me or someone else that got shot, maybe by a stray bullet or some shite.

Same here. Was living at Azalea Point(now the Zone). Scary to think what's become of that area.

I really hate to hear that these areas surrounding LSU have become such a shithole...unfortunately, I can't say I would want to send my kids there at this point...

hopefully, the government can get off their asses and clean up some of these areas...at some point, it is time to quit worrying about who's toes you are gonna step on and take some action...

I have a bunch of friends that live off of Alvin Dark and in the apartments across Brightside. Walked a many a drunk night back from the bars down those roads.

My point exactly.

I don't have kids but say 20 or so years down the road when I do have a kid about to enter college, if the area surrounding LSU is still in the shape it is now I won't be paying for them to go there and will do everything in my power to sway them somewhere else.

I would have no worries sending my kid to LSU. Has anyone been shot on LSU's campus? In the parking lot of any of the major bars?

The guy got shot in a drug deal gone bad. Teaching your kids not to buy drugs in a section 8 neighborhood in the middle of the night will keep them much safer than keeping them away from LSU.

I wish the Tigerland area hasn't become such a slum, but it is what it is.

What actually worries me more than anything is the lack of effort made to keep the areas that are known for student social activities safe.

That should be a HUGE priority for any college town.

Yea I would bet that is the school pressured the cops to clean up the area you would see the wheels start turning.

Oh don't worry, BRPD is very concerned with keeping Tigerland safe. That's why they're out there every night making sure no minors are waking around with alcohol.

I would think so but the school shouldn't have to imo anyone with any kind of sense should know that this is a very very bad thing for the city

Were talking about BR here, hell we are in the state of LA. I much as I love it and am proud to be from it one thing I know is government, cops, and common sense dont go together.

I can't remember a single night that I spent in Tigerland where there weren't a shitload of cops lined up on the median. They can't be everywhere at once. People doing illegal shite are going to shoot each other from time to time, and sometimes that's going to happen near a college campus.

Maximus, I'm not sure what you're referring to. As I already said there are plenty of cops in Tigerland at night. I don't know the details of what you're referring to but the guy probably should have alerted the police instead of trying to be a hero.

Exactly

You have 7 cops waiting on a 18 year old to walk out with a beer meanwhile a man is getting shot down within jogging distance.

Yea I am completely ok with that.

Keep up the great work BRPD
