music of your era

if you had to select 1 song (and only 1) that was most often played at house parties during college (or college aged years), what would it be?

not the most popular song at the time or your favorite, just the song that was always on a playlist due to your circle of friends or type of party you attened.

mine would have to be...
black star - definition

this always seemed to be on a playlist, and this was before playlist were created on iPods - circa 2000. i guess the cd was always ready to go. as i remember, we even got Bogie's to play it a few times on $1 call Wednesdays

funny how music taste changes over time. the older i get the older the music i enjoy gets.

anyone used to jam Blackstar?
what says you, whats your most common house party jam back in the day or currently for undergrads?

Good thread.

Have to break this down into two distinct categories:

Random don't know the house party Move This

Circle of Friends party: Magic Carpet Ride

I was usually the guy who made the party tapes in college. The songs that immediately come to mind are Love Shack, It's the end of the world as we know it, and baby got back.

Did you really say that the older you get, the older the music gets?

Well, no shite Einstein.

Btw, that Blackstar cd was/is badass.

If you were in college in the early 80s, you couldn't go anywhere without hearing the Billy Idol version of Mony Mony.

yeah, i realize how that sounded. but what i meant was, in college i listen to tupac, STP, RHCP. 10 years later, i'd rather drink whiskey and hear whipping post or Jimi shred.

point being, i listen to less "pop" and have been exposed to more of the "classics"

The entire GZA-Liquid Swords album.
I've bought this CD at least 3 times over the years. The older I get the older it gets.
When I was little... my father was famous.
He was the greatest sam-urai in the empire;
and he was the Shogun's decapitator.
He cut off the heads of a hundred and thirty-one lords.

I'm gonna go rogue here and throw in Dixieland Delight. Most overplayed song of my college life, with Livin on a Prayer coming in second.
