quote: Oh, he volunteered the info. We have block parties every Fall. Sitting in lawn chairs and catching up on news. One guy turns to me and said "Did you know that Virge here was a sniper in VN?" Me to Virge: Really? Then he started telling some stories. I guess you could say the word "Really?" was pestering but it would make you look really stupid. Reply Back to Top |
quote: That was the odd thing. He didn't seem to go through shite. Never captured, never wounded. Always in control of the situation. Wait around for a long time. Kill someone. Sneak away before they figure out where you're located. Reply Back to Top |
| Nothing beats a sniper.. Precision with no collateral damage.. I know one Seal sniper.. He's a quiet and timid guy.. He definitely didn't fit the mold I had in my head of a Seal. Cool guy though. Reply Back to Top |

quote: My dad was in WWII, all we ever knew was that he was in the Navy, he never talked about it, only after he passed away when we started going through some of his photos and papers did we get the first glimpse at some of the incredible things he was involved in. Reply Back to Top |
| I know a guy who was a sniper, wears Florida Dept. of Correction orange pants and bowling shoes. Definitely a job I would not want to have. Once you fire a couple of times, you are marked, and alone...usually. Reply Back to Top |
| I think about four or five between the Marines and Green Berets. I have one ex-Beret friend that was carrying a few tactical/suitcase nukes in the early 80's on a little mission that got called off within a few seconds of the point of no return. He told me the only thing that went through his mind at the moment was "Mommy". Reply Back to Top |

| Dad was a medic in the Navy, and spent a bit of time in the Pacific theater with a few Marines. He never spoke about his service at all, but whenever a WWII movie would come on the tube he told one of us to change the channel(back when remotes came with two legs). Reply Back to Top Refresh |
