Wimbledon is great, but something about watching the world's best play under the lights in the biggest tennis stadium in the world in the biggest city in America just gets me fricking pumped.

I actually consider the US Open my least favorite slam or maybe my second least favorite slam after the French Open. I did mention it among my favorite week in sports but that's because it's the only grand slam tournament which coincides with football and baseball season. Other than that, I dislike the US open a lot. I hate the shitty scheduling, the 5th set tiebreaker, the obnoxious crowds, and the fact that it was carried on the crappy USA network for many years. Wimbledon is considered the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world by a mile and it's hard for any diehard tennis fan not to feel that way. Everything about that tournament just feels epic. The Nadal-Federer match in 2008 was great but the fact that it was at Wimbledon just made it extra special. I wasn't as big of a tennis fan in the '90s as I am now but the one tournament I never missed on TV was Wimbledon. To give an analogy, Wimbledon is to tennis as the Masters is to golf. It's the one tournament that almost all of the pros dream about winning. The US Open just isn't on that level. I actually would rate the French Open above it considering how big it is for all of the European clay-courters. And while the Australian Open isn't as prestigious, it's certainly had much better and more entertaining matches in recent years (Safin-Federer 2005 AO, Nadal-Verdasco 2009 AO, Djokovic-Nadal 2012 AO, etc...).

Yup, the only advantage the US Open has is simply the convenience of viewing for American fans. The one problem with following an international sport like tennis as rabidly as many of us do is the time changes can make it extremely difficult to see the matches you want to see (especially when you start working ). It was fine when I was in college, but now I just hate my life during Slam weeks.

I have always liked the US OPEN. Some great matches over the years. Not sure what year it was but when Conners made that EPIC run was a thing for the ages.
