| Most people can think about more than one thing at a time. Does it make your head hurt to have multiple things to think about? Reply Back to Top |
quote: No. It's semantics to me. quote: I do because it involves a third party, but I don't think anything is gonna change. quote: I don't care if people use it. Do I need to pay for it? No. Reply Back to Top |
quote: What percentage of my/our hard earned monies that are taxed go to this? I really don't know. My assumption is that it is probably less than we give to mother frickin palestine or saudi arabia. This post was edited on 4/6 at 9:23 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: It's not taxation. It's the birth control mandate. Ogump says ALL health care plans must cover contraception without a co-pay. So that's built into the premium for the health insurance he wants to FORCE you to buy. Add in the fact that medical underwriting is illegal under Ogumpcare and you're paying for it. | Maybe so, but I've gone on the record of saying I don't support giving aid of any kind to corrupt or oppressive governments. Reply Back to Top |

quote: I get that. But my issue is that it seems like some people who would otherwise vote against Obama are focusing some myopic hatred on Romney because of a few (to me) irrelevant social issues. It was like when Duke was running against Edwards. I f-ing hated Edwin Edwards, but there was no way in hell I would let a former KKK member be governor of Louisiana. That would have set LA back 100 years. I see it as more of a big picture issue. Reply Back to Top |
quote: What is fiscally conservative about Mitt Romney? Reply Back to Top |
quote: I see your point, but just as medicine has become more specialized, so has politics. People will often create a narrow litmus test to determine whether or not they'll vote for someone or not. For example: my father has stated he'll never vote for someone that is pro-abortion. Now, I know my father is a smart man, but the reason for this decision (to him) is principle. I'm very anti-abortion too, but I wouldn't hesitate to vote for someone who was pro-abortion. Why? Because it really doesn't matter how they feel about it. It ain't going away. So do I want someone to tell me what I want to hear? No. I just want to know what you will do on things you do have power over of. Reply Back to Top |
quote: No. I don't like labels, like "fiscal conservative," but almost always vote Republican on national issues. Reply Back to Top |
| Should be state issues IAW enumerated powers in the constitution... The issues themselves are moot...where the power lies is the point... Reply Back to Top |
| No, yes, no. Reply Back to Top |
| Bingo, I give Ds an ear at lower levels because they can move and shake more responsibly, in line with the constitution... But debt is piling too high right now. Ds are not beholden to anyone at the national level and try to turn the people against each other over dumb social issues. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Yup, state and local governments can't deficit spend and print money, so it works out much better. I'm not a Dem voter often, but I'll give it a listen. I think not spending at the state and especially local levels because you are beholden to pledges and ideologies intended for federal reps is also completely ineffective. Case in point, Summer of 2010, City of Colorado Springs, extremely "conservative" stopped watering the grass in the parks to save money and if you've ever lived in Colorado, that means it dies. So their savings of $50 K in water and salaries resulted in the cancellation of rec league sports for kids, etc and eventually replacing the fields. That just idiotic. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Yes. quote: As a woman, yes. quote: See abortion. I will say that I think that these are things that shouldn't matter in an election, until more pressing matters are addressed. They aren't even the business of the federal government and should be left to the states. Right now, first and foremost, the largest issue in the election should be the economy.
