re: Rangers coach John Tortorella calls out the pens as an organization Half full MSG? You must be thinking of the islanders dude even in years when they don't make the playoffs MSG is sold out every game. Might not be full at the start because new Yorkers don't finish work in time to get there for a 7pm puck drop. It's a tough ticket to get but I would expect anything less than an ignorant comment from a hog fan.... Reply Back to Top
quote: You are 100% full of shite if you think MSG was full back in the early 2000's when the Rangers really sucked. Because it wasn't. Fortunately for you NHL attendance goes by tickets sold not actual butts in the seats or I'd prove you wrong. If you're talking 2007-2010 or so, sure, the Rangers were still a playoff team. But in the early 2000's when they were multiple games under .500? No, MSG was not full. Ignorant LSU fans I swear Reply Back to Top |
I was a season ticket holder in the early 2000's and it was not an empty arena - not even close. Remember we had Gretzky lindros and mess was still kicking then. Reply Back to Top

As a Leaf 'Fan' (i mean that I have been obsessed with the team my whole damned life) I have watched countless shitty games broadcast from MSG and I would respectfully suggest there were even up to 2 years ago a shite ton of empty seats at MSG. I am talking 2pm on Saturday afternoon when they were trying it on for size at FOX studios, NBC and even ESPN back in the day. If the Leafs fans can't even fill a building away from The Cashbox on Carlton or the Air Canada Centre that building isn't getting full. New York fans are fair weather fans, Washington fans the same and also Pittsburgh, Florida, Ducks, Kings...they all fall into the same category...listen I don't begrudge NYR fans or any other organization's fans for wanting to watch a good winning team on the ice, but lets not pretend this is Montreal or the Leafs who go to watch and sell out the worst or 2nd worst team in the NHL Reply Back to Top

The core group of Rangers fans are obsessed and pack the Grden. But... I agree that when the team sucked people stayed away. Everybody hates Dolan and yes he owes the Cable company I get my TV from. I work 5 blocks from the Garden and you see Rangers sweaters all the time. But... The Knicks still get more publicity. As far as the New York media are concerned, the Icelanders the Devils don't exist. I root for the Devils but see them being ousted from the playoffs early. Time for Marty to gracefully retire. Hell he's as old as me (OK so he's not). Rangers could go along way this year Reply Back to Top

I am fine, doing well and all is well. My son turned 21 yesterday and we had a good time. Love this time of year. Baseball, Masters and nothing better than Stanley Cup playoffs. Funny all the talk about the Rangers. Can't believe it was 18 years since the 1940 chant. Can Fan, only you would appreciate this. Watched a program that was all about the Canadian Soviets 1972 series. God bless Paul Henderson Reply Back to Top

I miss the "1940" chants. It's the second worst thing about 1994 (the worst is that they traded Mike Gartner at the deadline, so he didn't win a Cup -- one of hockey's all time nice guys). They always play the Summit Series thing on NBC sports when they have to pre-empt the hockey game. Quick bitch about that -- the Stars game a week ago was blacked out so local TV could cover the Stars. Fine. But FSSW had the Mavs game and they didn't show the Stars until the Mavs game was over -- the third period. I mean, it's not like the Stars were in a playoff race or anything. Oh, and the only three fanbases who can talk any crap about showing up in droves when their team sucks are the Leafs, Habs, and Flames. And I'm so mad at the Flames right now I can't even talk about it. Reply Back to Top
Off topic but Florida broke their playoff drought this week. (backed their way in) Leafs now have the longest drought since 2002. Reply Back to Top

You are right about the blackout rule. We get games blacked out because of the Rangers, Devils and Islanders. Wait there are no Islander games on national TV. Nest is when Islanders play against the Devils and the game is on Channel 71 Devils and Channel 72 Islanders announcers. Reply Back to Top
Every team in the East except the Isles and Habs has as many or more non-shootout wins as the Cats. Every one. They are a fraud. Unfortunately, the second biggest fraud is New Jersey, who has TWELVE shootout wins. And they get to play each other most likely. Reply Back to Top
Can't wait for the playoffs to start. At least then the TV networks will realize that the NHL does have teams outside the Eastern Time Zone. Reply Back to Top
