Photos: Members Of Congress Wear LSU Gear To Support Rep. Steve Scalise

To honor U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Metairie who was severely injured during a shooting on Wednesday, LSU sent baseball hats and t-shirts to Washinton D.C. for members of Congress to wear during Thursday's Congressional Baseball Game for Charity. Per The Advocate:

"I love it, and I know it's what Steve wants," U.S. Rep. Garret Graves, R-Baton Rouge, said in a telephone interview. "The lagniappe is the fact that so many people are calling asking for purple-and-gold garb and wanting to honor Steve and LSU."

While he remains under heavy sedation, Scalise was present in spirit Thursday night, as players donned LSU hats the university sent to the capital in the wake of the shooting. Scalise graduated from LSU in 1989 with a computer science degree and a minor in political science.

Scalise was one of six people that were injured after a gunman opened fire Wednesday in Alexandria, Virginia, during a Republicans' early-morning practice.

The New Orleans native and LSU graduate remains in critical condition but has improved.

With the nation supporting LSU the Tigers need to win the CWS for the State and especially Steve Scalise. Prayers for Steve till the Tigers are handed the National trophy!!!!

Hardly exercised as advertised. Very few actually donned LSU attire; in fact, even Cedric Richmond didn't participate in the LSU-thing - he wore Baby Cake uni.

"(CNN) Democrats easily defeated Republicans 11-2 in the 2017 Congressional Baseball Game, in an annual tradition that has taken on renewed importance in the wake of Wednesday's shooting in Alexandria, Virginia." Did they really start this off by saying they easily defeated them? First time they decide to report facts. I don't think that would be my opening line in an article after a shooting. Wtf is wrong with them.

What a coward this guy is and was to bring a rifle to shoot human beings at their most vulnerable. What ever happened to a good old fist fight to settle personal issues? At least no one is at an unfair advantage but it's only cowards that do crap like this. I don't believe the reports that this guy wouldn't back down from a fight. This guy was a pathetic human being and doesn't deserve any kind of credit. Hope Scalise is doing ok and makes a full recovery! GT
