Sporting News recently updated their preseason college football Top 25 for 2017 and pegged LSU at No. 14. Here is what they had to say about the Tigers:

14. LSU Tigers
The offense didn't exactly produce rave reviews under new offensive coordinator Matt Canada in the spring game, but Ed Orgeron's first full season will revolve around some familiar themes. LSU will have a power running game built around an excellent offensive line and Heisman Trophy contender Derrius Guice. It's on Danny Etling to come through at quarterback in Canada's new scheme. The talent is always there.

I love how half a spring game with a QB about to have back surgery is their basis for how LSU's offense will look.

All polls, especially pre-season pills, are meaningless. The only poll that matters is the playoff committee poll at the end of the season. Polls are a relic from a bygone era. Ignore them all.

How do you update a poll with no games being played? Ridiculous!

Recruiting classes, coaching resumes, senior turnover, coaching changes, even public and professional opinion, etc. I get it, "How can we know what'll happen months from now?" We can't. This is just for fun, based on what's happened recently.
