After a come from behind 28-24 victory against Wisconsin in week 1, LSU returns to Baton Rouge on Saturday for the home opener in the newly renovated and expanded Tiger Stadium.

LSU will play host to Same Houston State (1-1) and will look to bounce back from a slow start against Wisconsin. Here is some game info and brief preview from Rant Sports about what to expect from the Bearkats.

Sam Houston State has one of the more potent offenses in all of the FCS, accounting for 1,227 yards in the first two games combined. Averaging 613.5 yards per contest must mean that the Bearkats are doing something right if no teams at their level can slow them down, not even the mighty Eagles of Eastern Washington. Sophomore quarterback Jared Johnson has led the way for the Bearkats, passing for 703 yards and five touchdowns with just two interceptions in his first two games. Johnson can also tuck the ball and run, racking up 95 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Keshawn Hill leads all receivers with 136 yards and a score on five catches while LaDarius Brown has nine catches for 110 yards. Hill also leads all rushers with 190 yards and two scores on 32 carries.

Defensively, Sam Houston State can barely slow anyone down, allowing over 500 yards per game as well as 38 points per contest. The Bearkats struggle against both the run and the pass, so LSU might be having their way with Sam Houston State on Saturday evening. The Tigers, on the other hand, shut down Wisconsin’s passing attack, holding them to just 50 yards as they were without starting quarterback Joel Stave. However, they had a tough time trying to corral Melvin Gordon in the run game as the Badgers racked up 268 rushing yards.
