Former LSU offensive tackle Willie Allen from John Curtis HS in River Ridge, LA has been blocked from transferring to TCU, according to multiple sources.

There are reports that the Horned Frogs recruited Allen while he was still a part of the LSU Football team. Per The Advocate:

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram first reported Thursday that Allen was blocked from transferring to TCU, his first choice among transfer destinations, the newspaper reported.

LSU believes there was illegal contact between a TCU staff member and Allen, a source told The Advocate — the reason for the decision. Allen declined an interview request Friday, sending this text message: "I have nothing but love and respect for Coach O and all of my brothers at LSU."
Allen is also barred from transferring to any team in the SEC. He sent out this tweet on Friday afternoon:

Where he goes is not the point. Recruiting kids while they are on another college team is a MAJOR violation. If TCU did this then they need to be exposed.

I am sure he could go somewhere in the ACC or another Big 12 school, but if TCU was in his ear encouraging him to transfer when they were not suppose to then I don't blame them from blocking him from going to TCU.

Are some of you stupid or something? If TCU was recruiting a player on LSUs team it is a major recruiting violation. It isnt just about a player wanting to go elsewhere on his own. Some of you cant see the proverbial forest for the trees.

Really? I'm a straight male so I have no idea. All I can tell is that he looks different but can't tell if that's in a good way or a bad way.

Chuker, your need to preface your comment by letting us know you are a straight male blows your cover. The closet door is wide open and you opened it!

Lsu doesnt block players from outside leagues so if they did it some inappropriate was done point blank! Just think about it.. Hes on the two deep if he beat out somebody this year or next year he will start. Why all of a sudden TCU starts picking in our back yard and snatch a qb.. And your ready to leave out the blue?? There had to be prior contact! Thats all im saying

If TCU is in violation, they should be stopped. If not, let him go. I'm not sure of the ruling, but I know that teams, like people, when given an inch, will try to take a mile. Either way, Willie has been nothing but respectful towards LSU and I hope that he lands somewhere soon and has a chance to play. Seems like a good kid.

I thank him for his time here and wish him nothing less than success at the next stop and beyond! Now that being said, he truly has a face only a mother could love. Dude looks 60 years old.

Let him go. He never would have made a significant contribution at LSU. Agree that he can't go to any SEC team.

This rule must change...This is a free country. A kid should be able to go where he pleases. Just as coaches can.

I don't know if pissing on (I used that intentionally) all these Texas schools is a good look. I get the Texas feud with the satellite camps. But this one seems a little odd. Just weird timing mere days after the UT stuff.
user avatar
Shiftyplus182 months
So you think LSU is lying about something a different Texas college did to get even with another Texas college? Or do you think it's okay if O lets other schools poach our players from our active roster?
user avatar
ShamelessPel82 months
No? I think these weird pissing matches out of nowhere are kind of silly. We've recruited extremely well in Texas. Why now all of a sudden? I get the Texas stuff with Herman and drawing the line, but TCU? Public perception actually matters in recruiting.

This has nothing to do with "Texas". I'd block a transfer to the Delaware Blue Hens if they were trying to poach an active player from my roster.
user avatar
chinhoyang82 months
This seems to be a petty move on LSU's part.
user avatar
STRIPES82 months
Why? If LSU has evidence that TCU is poaching LSUs roster then there is ample reason to block his transfer. Anyway even if LSU blocks his transfer he can still go to TCU but he will lose an additional year due to the lack of release from LSU.
user avatar
Datbayoubengal82 months
@ STRIPES Don't care, TCU doesn't play LSU and even if a TCU guy illegally recruited him, that's on them not Allen. It seems super petty to punish a kid who doesn't even crack the second string at LSU.

Let the kid go, or pay him a salary.

There are rules. And he is being paid, it's called a free education.

Salary? Wtf? His compensation far exceeded the majority of college students.

comalking82 months
@willie. Do 100,000 people pay lots of money to see other college kids? Do other college kids generate billions for their schools? Do other college kids cause millions of people to buy shirts and hats and watches? No. Take your 1950s "free education" garbage home.
