ESPN released post-signing day SEC wide receiver and tight ends rankings this week and pegged LSU down at No. 10. Here's what they had to say:
quote:

10. LSU: The losses of Malachi Dupre and Travin Dural take two big-play threats out of this offense, but D.J. Chark returns after a breakout season (466 yards). However, 60 percent of LSU's receptions and receiving yardage are gone. This is an unproven group that will have to rely heavily on 2016 ESPN 300 signees Stephen Sullivan, Drake Davis and Dee Anderson, who totaled just five catches last season.

Complete Rankings:
1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Auburn
4. Missouri
5. Georgia
6. Ole Miss
7. South Carolina
8.Kentucky
9. Texas A&M
10. LSU
11. Mississippi State
12. Vanderbilt
13. Arkansas
14. Tennessee

Is bama just default #1 at every position. Let's just use their 2nd team

Ok, now this is just a fricking joke. Why even play the games when a certain team gets the benefit of the doubt all the time.

Dude this list is just horrific and wrong from the very start. Bama, Auburn and being top 3 is horrendous and Kentucky and TAMU not even in the top 5 is such bullshite. Mizzu not #1 is crazy IMO. Kentucky has 2 different WRs with over 1000 yards combined in 15-16, a 3rd with over 800 in that span, and a TE with over 400 and 4 TDs in that span. Mizzu has a 1000 yard 8 TD WR, 3 more WRs with at least 300 yards, and 2 TEs that combined for 40 recs over 440 yards and 3 TDs, that all occurred in 2016. TAMU has the best WR in the SEC coming back along with RSJ and and Noil as 4th year players. If this was based on potential and production, Ole Miss beats Auburn and Bama as well. Bama should be no better than 7th.

excuse me, Mizzu only brings back one of those TEs, but he scored 3 times.

Good. Let us fly under the radar going into the season. We have some serious studs at WR that nobody's heard of. They're going to wreck shite in this offense.

I would like zero expectations/hype for next season. It will make our 11-1 run a lot more fun in 2017.

Why does every article about LSU receivers never mention Russell Gage? Am I the only one who saw his potential at the end of last season. I think not! No doubt, we have some serious studs at receiver who simply need playing time. This group mention above; Plus Russell Gage, Mannie Netherlie, and Racey McMath will be one if the better groups in the conference! Book it!

I didn't see much potential other than being a decent blocker tbh I think all the other receivers have better potential based off intangibles. Also everytime I see or hear Gage's name I can't help but remember him getting torched in the spring game by Dee Anderson

Gage has like 5 career catches...not sure what you are expecting them to say.
user avatar
Datbayoubengal86 months
Not to rain on your parade, but I doubt Gage sees the field much at all this year.

You can tell we haven't won anything worth talking about lately...because our fans are getting way to deep in their feelings about these offseason articles that absolutely means shite. Its simple...We will earn the respect when we start throwing the ball around successfully and consistently.

Why list the hated gumps, espn just has them #1 everytime anyway. It seems like they shouldn't even be wasting their time on the rest of th sec and go straight to the playoffs. Thank God for Clemson who beat their arse.

Are these rankings based on stats or roster depth? If it's roster strength or depth. There is no way LSU is 10th in the SEC. Missouri is ranked at 4, that speaks volumes lol.

Gumps are overrated at receiver and running back.

That's just about right. Think about this dog shite reporting for a min. You return the 6th best QB and you are ranked because or perception after signing day. So no credit for what you did last season. Yet your best receiver returns - Dupre was a joke most of the year and Dural didn't hardly play the second half of he season and they are a "huge hit" even tough said QB didn't throw to Dural as much as Harris. The ONLY ranking they should matter is coaching staff when it comes to LSU. That's it. I would rank our staff at about 6-7th at best right now based on unknowns more than anything else. Why because our defensive staff is 1 IMO. Who knows how good offensively we will be or how fast the guys wee have will be able to catch on. My prediction is by mid-October we will wear out our opponents and it will not be a reflection of previous seasons. It will start at UF.
