Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards addressed the media on Thursday night and suggested that the ongoing budget crisis involving TOPS (Taylor Opportunity Program for Students) could put college football in jeopardy across the state of Louisiana. Per TheAdvertiser.com
quote:

“The LSU main campus in Baton Rouge will run out of money after April 30,” he said. “There is no money left for payroll after those dates. The Southern University system and the University of Louisiana system are in the same boat. Without legislators approving new revenue this special session, some campuses will be forced to declare financial bankruptcy, which would include massive layoffs and the cancellation of classes. If you are student attending one of those universities, it means that you will receive a grade of incomplete.”

JBE standing at the bottom of a hole yelling about how deep it is, and people forgot Jindal is the one who dug it. I don't agree with Edwards' politics, but Christ guys. This is 8 years of bullshite finally catching up to us.

The middle east oil producing countries purposely increase their oil production to make the oil prices fall from $107 a barrel to $25 a barrel, so the smaller oil companies in the United States would go out of business, and you classless liberals blame the Republicans? Should we be surprised?

But hookers. Everyday I see illegals getting Cadillac medical treatment from free tonsillectomies on little Mexicans to hand surgeries from a hand specialist all on state taxpayer dime. But screw the middle class families that pay for it all and try to send their kid to college.

The ideas of Democrats might not be so bad if they didn't let so much of the funding for their programs be so misappropriated and wasted, but since they don't know what the frick they are doing, just let us keep our own money and manage it how we see fit.

"Didn't know the extent of the indebtedness until I got into office....." What a typical politician lie. Promises to not raise taxes then when you get into office you come up with the same old excuse to go back on your word that every other good for nothing politician does. He was in the state legislature all of those years and he didn't know what budget problems the state was facing? What was he doing all of that time?? The West Point honor code......"I will not lie, cheat, or tolerate others who do." Problem is that we've got and always had way too many folks on the state government teat here in Louisiana. We've got twice the amount of public universities and colleges as Florida while we've only got 1/5 of the people. We need to close down half of the universities/colleges around the state. Check out the graduation rates of some of these colleges like Southern, etc. IT'S LESS THAN 10%!!!

I don't like or dislike JBE but why's he getting blamed for this deficit? Is this political pandering, probably, but the people posting on this thread blaming JBE for the deficit seem misinformed.

I'd ask those same people how the tax credits for billion dollar companies and the movie industry are working out. According to local economists, this is part of the issue of why LA is working at a net loss. That and the price of oil.
Ironically, all you far right wingers screaming "Drill Baby Drill" - how's that panning out for LA?

Whoops. You failed.

That's what happens when you elect a Dem. Gov. The sky is falling is a technique used by Obama.

Guys, Jindal set this landmine up. It's simple dollars and cents. I don't give 2 shits about JBE, but the issue is there and sticking one's head in the sand won't change anything. Hate the dude all you want, but the bomb Jindal planted is going to blow up.

This is a HUGE black eye for recruiting. Thank God it hit after signing day.

how the hell are people blaming Edwards for this? It's a result of an outdated state constitution that has needed re-writing for years and a 2 term governor that was more interested in flying around the country on a fools errand than actually doing anything to improve the state he was elected to run.
