ESPN released 2013 Season Report Cards for all SEC teams and here is how they graded the Tigers. You can read the complete breakdown and position summaries here, but below are the basics:

OFFENSE: B
DEFENSE: C
SPECIAL TEAMS: B

OVERALL: B

Here is some of what they said:

With division rivals Alabama and Auburn having either won or played for the BCS title in each of the past five seasons, LSU might be getting a bit tired of its bridesmaid status of late. It's not as if the Tigers have been pushovers, however. This marked the first time in school history that LSU won at least 10 games for a fourth straight season, and included in those 10 wins was the only victory against eventual SEC champ Auburn in the regular season. Considering the roster turnover that took place on defense, a 10-win season and a New Year's Day bowl in Florida were perfectly acceptable results.

Although there is absolutely no excuse for the OM crap, the staff did an awesome job this year with the youth on this team. Absolutely nobody can doubt the elite levef this staff after what they've done. A defense that pretty much lost the Geo game and was inconsistent due to youth ended up locking down the best receiver in the NCAA against A+M with a FRESHMAN CB and stood toe to toe with an Iowa team that was trying to claim toughne with national defensive rankings until they got ran over by the LSU ground and pound truck. LSU didn't even bother to pass the ball in that bowl game and the staff was never worried about the outcome. Iowa's two scores came from drives that started inside LSU's 5yd line due to miscues. This shows that the defense was developed and tuned up awesomely and is a taste of what will happen next season.

Even after losing SIX more underclassmen to the NFL again this year we can all expect LSU to field another top team with more breakout freshmen form this year's obvious top 2 class. The Future is bright.

LSU can't lose to OM or a team like OM in their SEC division and expect to have a favorable season. Getting drilled by Bama who ended with 2 loses and playing there worse game against Bama in 3 years is not encouraging. Leading the league in early NFL draftees is an interesting side note, but the program and coaching staff need to curb that trend it is not positive.

B+, would have been an A but not when you lose to Ole Miss

The Tigers won ten games despite losing so many players to the draft. The program is in fantastic shape and is a national brand.

Defense should be a D

The players get an "A," the coaches get a "C."

So two 1000 yard receivers, a 1000 yard rusher, and a 3000 yard QB get you a 'B' on offense.
