LSU head coach Ed Orgeron joined the SEC Coaches Teleconference Wednesday and said he and athletic director Joe Alleva had a meeting this week with offensive coordinator Matt Canada and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda.

Orgeron said that he meets with Alleva every Monday and decided this week to pull in the coordinators to get everyone on the same page.

The gathering was described as a "gut-check meeting" and was centered around “accountability,” according to The Advocate:

The discussions between offensive coordinator Matt Canada, defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, Orgeron and Alleva unfolded in Orgeron’s office, and they centered around “accountability,” a source familiar with the discussions told The Advocate. The four left the meeting in agreement on the direction of the program.

“It was a gut check meeting,” the source said. “It was more that guys need to look each other in the eye and tell each other how it is.”

Truly hard to believe this has become so disjointed. In any line of business when your supervisor needs to come in to get you all communicating and working together that is never a good sign. When you hire someone there is a check and balances if this is a good hire. As a LSU Alumn I don't see this scenario working out at this time. Saturday is the start only your in the 11th hour. Just very hard to believe.

Why was this meeting made public ? Bad business. I do not have a problem w the meeting ... sometimes a marriage counselor is needed in the relationship - lol But you do not air dirty laundry in public.

That’s part of the problem with anything these days. Everything is made public and people want it all right now! Kids come out of college expecting to make six figures right away and when they don’t they move back in with Mommy and Daddy and do nothing. Sometimes I think the old ways were better. You know, actually being patient and working your way up. Kinda like young football players who are also students.

Sounds like O wanted to share the blame and not take all of it himself!

Changing coaches wouldn't even make a difference now this far into a downward spiral. We saw how that worked out with the Les Miles firing and the hiring of scrub recruiters. The AD is who we should have gotten rid of before we got rid of Les and then hired a new coach.

phew!! I feel much better about the season now. Thank goodness there was a gut check. I belt Alleva really straightened things up. I bet he spoke some wisdom and gave them some solid advice. Canada's offense probably won't suck anymore and O won't be a clueless idiot either.

It does seem rather bleak but heck three wins in a row up to the Bama game and smiles appear. Yes, I saw my therapists

LSU is screwed. After this year no matter of what you think of Aranda or Canada, both are gone. We will have all new coordinators and left with O.

TigerFan5555579 months
yes sir, both will jump ship... Aranda for sure, people will still want him.. Canada, not so sure it will be as easy to leave..

You bring up a good point. Everyone on here blames O and Canada, and there’s a case to be made for both, I suppose. Yet, no one has mentioned Aranda. Is he exempt from all criticism? Last I checked, his defense hasn’t exactly shut people down lately. Just got gashed for over 200 yards rushing by Troy. Yet no one has anything bad to say. Maybe it’s because most people realize the defense is young, lost key starters to the NFL, and have had injuries and transfers to deal with. You know, much like the offense and special teams. I think if you blast one, you should blast all 3. Or better still, let’s just realize that this is going to take some time, keep everyone together, improve each week, and maybe have a much better team heading into next year. I can wait, can you?

What a lack of leadership. I can tell you Saban isn't bringing in his coordinators into a meeting like this. Next week O is bringing in the guy that stripes the field.
